  1. Hey Matt, I think the theme is separate. If you have a car in the theme category it's not eligible for the typical "class" category. I think it's because of the time needed to go back and forth from the theme to the classes to judge the entries. Since there could theoretically could be 1 car from each class in the theme.
  2. I haven't missed one in 20+ years! I may only have one entry (for the "Vipers & Vettes" theme) but I've been to every one that's been held at the SE Nats, going way back to the SMCC (Suncoast Model Car Club) days. See you guys there.

  4. Steve, When you are on Jimmy's homepage, look to the left under the menu. Click where it says "Don't forget about Dr. Flintbone" and follow the links. That's where his figures are listed. "DDD" is listed in that section.
  5. Coy's makes some very nice wheels. You can see their lineup here: http://www.coyswheel.com/index2.html And here's a pic of the C-55: And I'm sorry.......Not sure what kit(s) would include something similar.
  6. This was actually built here locally at a new shop that just opened around Christmas called "Slicks Garage" - and where I am doing some sub-contractor airbrush work for as well. It was neat to watch him drive that Hummer into the shop and then watch it get hacked up. The artist, Jeremy, is a very nice guy and it's just one of those "artist statements" that either people love, or hate - there is no middle ground. And yes, it will be pulled by two horses through Times Square (thus the name "Hummer 2H" instead of H2). Slick is also building a 32 Coupe for Capt. Andy Hillstrand of the crab boat "Time Bandit" from the show Deadliest Catch. While not for everyone, it still makes you look.
  7. Here's an AMT Chevy 454SS I built for a client a few years ago. Lots of scratchbuilt stuff (bed cover, bed cover hinges, under hood tanks and details, window vent shades, seat risers, headers, etc.) opening doors, lowered ride height, etc.
  8. That truly is a very cool "set"! Love the detail on the Wagonmaster. One question: EXACTLY where does one find the "Kiwi Jack" resin stuff?
  9. Thanks Noel. The tires/wheels are simply the ones from the Alternomad Caprice wagon kit with the center spoked painted using Tamiya gun metal. I kind of like the darker look myself intead of all chromed..
  10. Here's another of the Jimmy Flintstone/Testors resin slammer kits I did for the Tampa show a couple of weeks ago. It's the "Triclopz" custom '48(?) Tucker. HoK True Blue Pearl over a black base and airbrushed white/light blue true fire flames. The wheels are from Aoshima with MCG aluminum discs added as a "center cap".
  11. Thanks Clay! It was great to finally meet you at the Tampa show and to see your stuff in person as well. Hopefully I'll have more stuff next year!
  12. LOL Dave! I can't wait to see what you do with that Coronet.
  13. Thanks guys, I appreciate the kind words! Jose - The airbrush I use for finer details is an Iwata "HiLine" HP-CH. It has a MAC air valve just before the tip so I can regulate air flow easier.
  14. This was one of 3 curbside/slammers I finished in the week leading up to the contest held by the MAGS group at the Tampa NSRA Southeast Nats show last weekend (Oct. 10-11). The first builds I have completed in about 11 months. This was the first completed of the three, so I'll start with it. The resin Flintstone/Testors kit was used along with the rolling stock from the Alternomad Caprice wagon kit. The true fire was added on top of a black base using all HoK auto paints and the wood trim was dry brushed. Not much to these kits but they are great to practice painting on.
  15. Hey Dano, It's always great seeing everybody each year at this show and once again, I HAD A BLAST!. I think this was the 22nd year, dating back to the old Suncoast Model Car Club days! And there were also a ton of new faces this time around, too! Guys and gals from all over the Sunshine State as well as a couple of the ACME guys from Georgia. And with some of the best modelers in the Southeast in attendance each year ( such as David Thibodeau & Dirk Joseph - who won his 2nd straight BOS with that AMAZING Chevelle!) there is always a stunning array of top notch models on the contest tables. I think the final count was just a couple models shy of 300! BIG kudos to all the M.A.G.S. guys for keeping this local Tampa Bay area "tradition" alive, as well as to the NSRA who donate the space to put on this show each year. Can't wait til next year with the theme "Vipers & Vettes"!
  16. Model Car world has both the Petty "STP" blue and "regular" Petty blue: http://www.mcwautomotivefinishes.com/
  17. Hi Chad, The next show/contest is actually THIS weekend, Sat. & Sun. Oct. 10 & 11, at the Florida State Fairgrounds in Tampa, held in conjunction with the NSRA Southeast Nationals car show. It's run by a great group of modelers, "M.A.G.S." ( info can be found at their site - www.mags.name ). A lot of former Suncoast Model Car Club guys are in this group. I think this is the 22nd year for this contest. And it is a JUDGED contest, not an NNL style. This year's theme is "Wagons & Woodies" along with awards in 16 categories plus Master Awards and "Specialty" awards made by the M.A.G.S. members. There is also a "Make & Take" event for the kids on Saturday at 1:30pm. Besides the contest fee, there is an entrance and parking fee for the car show where there is usually over 1500 cars to see all along the fairgrounds. But all model contest entrants receive a free gate pass for re-entry on Sunday. Registration is 10am - 4pm on Saturday and awards are handed out at 2pm on Sunday.

  20. Dang Virgil. This thing is WAY wicked! I love the addition of "Mr. Bones"! The ashes idea is fantastic. Maybe with bits of charred clothing hanging off of the skeleton..............? Looking forward to the next update!
