  1. OK, Jairus..........I mentioned this was on the bench in another post so I thought I'd put up a couple of in-progress pics. Based on a sketchpad rendering by - who else - Jairus Watson, the base kit is the Revell 66 Chevelle wagon. Motor will be the 302 out of the Revell 69 Z/28 along with the seats, dash and console. Color will be Hugger Orange with white stripes (of course) and white interior with houndstooth seat pattern inserts. The tires are from the Wagonrod and wheels are resin/aluminum pieces from Arrowhead Aluminum. Now for the mock-up pics: The Revell Camaro grille was opened up and painted black, Z/28 emblem added. Still needs some touching up: The rear seat has to be widened a bit to fit the wider wagon body. I'm retaining the wagon door panels, though. This is the inspiration for the build. Can't tell you how many times you (Jairus) have provided ideas for modelers. Thanks again! More to come...........
  2. (Note to self.............pay more attention to what is ACTUALLY posted and not what you THINK it says!!) DOH! OK.........so can I at least get the 1st MCM Forum boobie prize?!? If I'd have taken the time to properly READ the subject............ahh %$*^&#$@*%^! Attention better I will next time pay!
  3. I saw your sticky about the new MCM Forum already reaching 300 members! WHOO HOO! Should be OVERFLOWING shortly........ I also saw where you asked for more models on the site. So here's another contribution: A 1985 El Camino SS. This was a commissioned piece, built to replicate the owner's 1:1 85 El Camino: It was a 3 month project and in the end, the owner was VERY happy! Even got an extra "Franklin" tip!! Base kit was the MPC 82 Elky kit. I opened/hinged the doors, added full engine detail using the new Pro Tech braided lines and fittings (see the "What's New?" column in this month's MCM # 111 for contact info ) and replicated the rest of the car from well over 100 photos that the owner supplied. Here's a couple engine pics before installation: Lots more pics can be seen here: 1985 Chevy El Camino SS A fun build, plus I made some extra $$ doing it!!
  4. I noticed the announcement in the lastest issue. These are great little kits. I built my set as soon as they were reissued. I think I did all 4 in a week. I'll post some pics, iffin' youse want! It looks like I may have to get another set...............
  5. Hmmm............I received a flyer from Dave B. for the show......way down here in Florida!! Actually, I had entered the Portland show via mail-in entry a few years ago. Yep, mailed a model all the way from The Sunshine State to Portland, Oregon.....and it survived with only a wiper and mirror coming off in transit. Now, since this years show has a convertible theme I am seriously thinking of mailing in the Rambler Speedster. Waddya think, Jairus? Should I trust the postal service TWICE?!? By the way, here's a pic of the model I sent, along with the custom framed print of the original art it's based on (Thanks for the print, Gregg-Dude!!). It was actually chosen as the receipient of the "Best Design of Jairus Watson". I was very surprised! It was also in one of Gregg's final issues of "Plastic Fanatic".
  6. Welcome, David! Nice to see made it. I always enjoy seeing what you have up your sleeve.
  7. Hey Brian! Nice to see you found your way here.
  8. Scorchin' pick'em up truck! Can't wait to see the how-to on those flames. Great job.
  9. Thanks, Jairus. But dude..................your art has inspired myself and countless others. I'm happy you enjoyed the Rambler. By the way, I am currently working on a project based on yet another of your renderings - the Hugger Orange 66 Chevelle Z/28 Wagon! Thanks again.
  10. Thanks for the kind words, guys! This was actually my very first custom.....after 30+ years of building! The wheels are from Machined Aluminum Specialties. I know Mark no longer accepts orders through his website ( www.mas-parts.com ) and sells at some shows "up north" (he's in Michigan) but I beleive he does do some mail order.
  11. This is the latest from the bench, even though it was finished a few months ago! It's a custom Rambler Speedster, built from the AMT "Ram-Blur" kit. Bodywork includes lengthening the doors a scale 4"; sectioning the body by 3"; filling in the hole for the blower in the hood; adding a scratch built cowl induction style scoop; sloping the nose forward; relocating the tail lights (tail lights made from red sprue); squaring the rear wheel openings; adding the speedster style rear deck (headrest bumps were made from the top halves of Revell pro stock hood scoops!); slanting the windshield back; reshaping the rear spoiler and adding '59 Porsche 365A Speedster headlights. I also "beefed up" the lower rear portion of the car, right behing the rear bumper. Interior is from the Revell Dodge Sidewinder truck with carbon fiber decal accents.
