  1. Hey guys. Just to let you know, there actually IS a club in the Venice area. It's an IPMS chapter. The club is called "Wings, Wheels & Keels". They do a yearly show at Woodmere Park in Venice and here's the info on the upcoming March show: 3/14/2009 Florida Venice Region 11 Wings, Wheels, & Keels Spring Model Contest 2009 Woodmere Park and Recreation Center 3951 Woodmere Park Blvd IPMS Wings, Wheels, & Keels Randy Whitacre 941-627-3880 whitaran@comcast.net HTH!
  2. If you have a local Car Quest auto paint store, check with them. The one here in town carries the complete HoK line, from the un-thinned 2oz. & 4oz. plastic squeeze bottles to the gallon size. The guy here has gotten to know me and now gives me a pretty good discount! Just one other option to explore.
  3. Same web address as always: http://www.mas-parts.com/ New snail mail address on the contact page.
  4. Even though I saw this stunning build in person a couple of weeks ago in Tampa, I still drool over it in these pics. Outstanding job as usual, Dave!
  5. OK, now it's beginning to feel like one of those annoying Amscot loan office commercials on TV. You know........ "There's another one."
  6. I gotcha beat..... I received SEVEN identical messages! **EDIT** Just received three more. I'm in double digits now. WHOO HOO!

Oooh......Aaahhhhhhhh..... And Oooohhh.........again! VERY nice job on a difficult kit. Love the color choices.
  8. And that's the end of that! 6-2 final score.........RAYS WIN! RAYS WIN! And take the series 3 games to 1. Now on to the ALCS against the LA Angels or thhe much hated Boston Red Sox. Both are teams the Rays have winning records against this year! I gotta hand it to the ChiSox, though. They certainly fought hard to get into the position they were in. Now the nation gets to see just how talented - and dangerous - this Tampa Bay team is. Thanks, Harry, for allowing me to play along. I appreciate the "gamesmanship" ! Good luck...............NEXT YEAR! By the way, the Buccaneers already beat 'da Bears, didn't they? After the Bears held a 4th quarter lead? And IN Chicago, too.........
  9. Yeah, but at least our grounds keeper doesn't allow a DITCH at the front of the mound for the pitcher's plant foot! Yeah, I know all about the ChiSox head groundskeeper's tricks - watering the dirt around home plate to deaden bunts, letting the grass grow tall to slow the ground balls...... However he is known as one of the best in MLB. Ah, true gamesmanship................. Let's see.....1st pitch for game 4 (the last of the year for the Sox!) is in about an hour............. GO RAYS!
  10. I live in the town that's been the spring traing home for the Pirates for what seems like forever. Their spring traing stadium, McKechnie Field, is less than 10 minutes from my house so spring traing games are a definite "to-do" in March-April! http://pittsburgh.pirates.mlb.com/pit/ball...pirate_city.jsp
  11. Absolutely. But it's super-top secret.......... I used.................................................... . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . ......a REALLY sharp, brand new #11 blade (for the tires) and a razor saw for the wheels! I just followed the tread around the tire with the blade and removed the outer, rounded edge of the tires. I also removed the same "width" from the inside of the wheel with a razor saw. Then I removed the next "tread width" of tire and slipped the newly narrowed tire onto the newly narrowed wheel. Then I replaced the "outside" of the tire and there you have it - a narrowed set of Pegasus T's! Here's a couple of pics for reference. The 1st is of the removed portions of the tire & wheel and then the narrowed versions with the treads back in place:
  12. Thanks guys. I appreciate the kind words.
  13. The ChiSox definitely had it going on today. Gotta tip my hat to 'em for getting the win. Played a really good, all-around game today. But that's it. The Rays need to show 'em WHY they were the AL East Champs and slam the door during game 4 tomorrow. But IF there's a game 5, there is NO WAY the Rays lose at the Trop! No way. We'll see what happens on Monday.................
  14. Hey Miguel! It was great meeting you at the show last year, and of course I'll be there again this year. I've attended almost every contest held at the NSRA Southeast Street Rod Nationals in the last 20 years! There were about 4 years with no contest, but when the MAGS guys got involved, this show has really taken off. There seems to be more and more entries each year with greater talent on display from one year to the next! Looking forward to seeing you both there!
  15. It was more like 53. I was counting!
  16. I finished this one up just in time for the upcoming Tampa show, where the theme(s) is/are "Fins & Flames". I have a few flamed cars to enter but this one will bridge both themes. It's the Monogram hardtop kit. I sanded the top smooth and lowered the ride height all around just a bit. The rolling stock is from Pegasus, however I narrowed both the tries and chrome T's by "one tread width" so I didn't have to fab up tubs. The tires just fit after they were narrowed. The colors are all HoK: basecoat black, Chrome Yellow, Kandy Organic Green, Kandy Spanish Gold, Snowhite Pearl and Majik Blue Pearl topped with DuPont ChromaClear urethane. The skull hanging from the mirror is the gear shift from the Monogram "Boomer Bucket" "T" kit. The motor is Ross Gibson BBC with injector stacks from BRP and Pro Tech fuel lines/rad hoses. For some reason, I just had to build a weed-scraping, fuel-injected, toxic green flamed '59 Cadillac..........thus the nickname.......... "HELLDORADO"
  17. Wow. What a great game - at least for RAYS fans. Harry, I thought your ChiSox were going to make a game of it for awhile there..........And they almost got a helping hand from the 1st base ump when they called Dye safe, even though Aybar had put the tag on him. The play was right down in front of us and even from where we were sitting you could clearly see that tag. But, in the end, it ended as it should......with the Rays pulling out the 6-2 victory. Even 2nd baseman Akonori Iwamura, who only hit 6 home runs all year - got off what ended up as the game-winning homer! With both the ChiSox AND Cubbies down 2-0, it doesn't look good once again for the Chicago MLB teams............ I have a feeling the Rays will be celebrating as soon as Sunday at U.S. Cellular Field...................
  18. Dude.....I hate those things! The guys wives love 'em, so we endure. But I'll tell you what, that place gets LOUD!!! Out the door I go!............................
  19. Don't forget, Harry. Not only did the Rays win what is generally considered THE toughest division in all of MLB - the AL East - but they did it by also having the best home record in the majors. And it's a given that the ChiSox can hit the long ball. But they have a real hard time manufacturing runs any other way, as proven in game 1. Their 4 runs all came with two swings, the 3 run shot then the 9th inning solo homer. They had the chance with the bases loaded but............nada. Anyway, here's some facts about the Rays playing at the Trop: MAJORS' BEST AT HOME--- The Rays finished with the majors best home record at 57-24 (.704) ...the last team with more home wins in one season was the 1998 New York Yankees (62-19) ...the Rays are just the 7th team since 1980 to play .700 ball at home ...the Rays won 53 of their last 69 games at home ...overall, the Rays lost only 5 series at home all season (20-5-1) in 26 series and lost only 2 of their last 22 home series (19-2-1) beginning April 22 with a 3-game sweep of Toronto at the Disney Wide World of Sports... SERIES PLAY---The Rays won 34 series and swept 10 including 4 against postseason teams: Boston twice, Los Angeles-AL, and Chicago-NL...the Rays lost only 5 of their last 44 series. Tropicana Field is a funky staduim, but it epitomizes a true home field advantge. The Rays should take game 2. The ChiSox may get 1 win at home but there's just no way TB loses this series. I'm headed out the door in about 30, headed for ST. PETERSBURG (NOT Tampa! ) to take in game 2 at Tropicana Field. Look for me straight up from 1st base, Section 214, about 15 rows behind the Rays dugout - IF it was actually possible to spot someone among the rest of the lunatics......... All in fun and just having a good time! GO RAYS!
  20. Sorry about your Sox Harry, I was at the game today (the Rays actually play in St. Petersburg - part of the "Tampa Bay Area", not in Tampa ) and your ChiSox looked a bit tired after that emotional 163rd game win the other night. Plus their W-L record on artificial turf is horrible. I've got tix for the 2nd game tomorrow, too! People thought this team would fade throughout the season but I've been to almost 20 games this year and I can tell you, these Rays are for real. Also, just for fun, check out this site. They have correctly predicted the NCAA tournament champion (before the tournament), the Stanley Cup champion (before the playoffs) and the Celtics over the Lakers (in six). They are picking the Rays to wind up the season by beating the Cubs in the World Series in 7 games: http://whatifsports.com/beyondtheboxscore/...008MLB_Playoffs The Rays are doing it through the farm system and trades for some "lower tier" players/veterans. The ENTIRE payroll for the Rays this year was $43 million! The Yankees and BoSox EACH have payrolls over $200 million. This Tampa Bay team is built for the future. There are so many young draft choices they've been able to get over the years for finishing last every year! I think you'll be seeing the Rays in post season play for quite awhile.............
  21. Great start, Charlie. It's nice to see you finding the time to build again! Any chance on seeing you at the Tampa show in a couple of weeks?
  22. Add me to the list of those who would love to see the MAS product line back on the market. Mark had some one-of-a-kind items and I was hoping that someone would be able to acquire the line. Best of luck and I'll eagerly await the return of MAS!
  23. Extra special, indeed! I'll be keeping watch on this one.............
  24. Stunning craftsmanship as usual, Dave. Will this be another one that makes it's debut at the Tampa show before wowing the Atlanta crowd? It's in just a couple of weeks! See you there!
  25. JayVee, I gotta agree with the consensus here: The final paint job is simply stunning. I love what you do with the true fire-thing and it looked great in the 1st attempt, but the end result after the "mistakes" make for some real eye-candy. Color, stance, 'tude.......................it's got it all. VERY nice.
