Kaleb Posted February 16, 2012 Posted February 16, 2012 I hope I'm not the only one, but has anyone ever build or ever wanted to build a plain white kit not one drop of paint on it? Just as if a company was advertising it, like the 1:12 mustang kit. I thought about it and it would only take a little bit to assemble. Thought I would see how it would go over before it went to a cbp.
Harry P. Posted February 16, 2012 Posted February 16, 2012 When I was a little kid I used to build a lot of models that way... no paint at all. But that's because after my friends and I built them, we crashed them and set them on fire, so no need to bother with painting! But as an adult, I don't see the point.
Kaleb Posted February 16, 2012 Author Posted February 16, 2012 Only because it's a challenge, because we have to "at least" do something. Just to build something basic. Just another hair brained idea.
martinfan5 Posted February 16, 2012 Posted February 16, 2012 I did the same thing, well I would brush paint the body, and maybe a few other things, but for the most part, everything else was left unpainted
Draggon Posted February 17, 2012 Posted February 17, 2012 I got this one off ebay a while back. Touched up the red black and silver, but the white is the original beautiful white plastic. This seems a bit cooler white than the current crop of styrene, and is totally opaque. I got it for the wheels and tires, then when I saw how nice that virgin white plastic was, I just cleaned it up and called it done!
Kaleb Posted February 17, 2012 Author Posted February 17, 2012 After what he said about just doing high lights with paint. I thought about doing that, and that truck is a beautiful example.
MikeMc Posted February 17, 2012 Posted February 17, 2012 (edited) Linen white and clear duplacolor the spear is the kit decal in black....bare plastic looked poor Edited February 17, 2012 by MikeMc
Rob65 Posted February 17, 2012 Posted February 17, 2012 You could get away with it as long as the trim was painted/foiled and fine details were painted. I much prefer a nice smooth paint job , though. Robert
