1320wayne
In the spirit of the Nascar season getting ready to start back up I felt the need to get started on another out of the box Nascar build. As Bill Elliott has always been one of, if not my all time favorite driver, I decided to go ahead and start on his Chevy M/C Burger King ride from a couple of years back. The basic kit is a Revell 2006-07 Monte Carlo kit, being built straight out of the box, along with Powerslide decals. So far I have the body painted, although the gold paint pulled the front fenders seam lines back out, even after I had sanded them down smooth. I need to analyze whether or not all of the decals will cover the area or if I have to go back and do some added sanding to get rid of them. The chassis is also started and painted chassis grey. That's where I'm at for now. Edited March 31, 2012 by 1320wayne

bbowser
That gold really pops! I like Valspar paints, they're inexpensive and go down well. Eager to see where this goes.
1320wayne
Here is another quick update. Started on the decals and they are going on great. I also robbed some older chrome plated wheels from an older Monogram kit to use as the silver painted wheels that were on the real car. Kmidd65
That is really looking Killer, Wayne! I love the way that black crown decal comes up the front. Very clean sharp build there so far. Is the stance just mocked up for the photo or do you already have it set? Either way, it is going to be really cool!

The wheels are merely stuck underneath right now. The suspension hasn't been completed yet.

Ken#5fan
Very nice job!!! May have to pick up that sheet. That gold looks great. What color did you use for the chassis?
1320wayne
Wayne, Thank you for the name of the paint. Were can you buy it from? The Valspar gold comes from Lowe's. Very nice job!!! May have to pick up that sheet. That gold looks great. What color did you use for the chassis? The chassis grey color is a custom mix that I had made here locally and is color matched from the actual color used by most teams.
1320wayne
Well, I was finally able to finish this one this afternoon. Lots of small little decals had to be added on the exterior but it brings it all together.
