alarmstrong Posted February 17, 2012 Posted February 17, 2012 This car was built to replicate the one that my father had before he joined the Army. I stopped building cars for about 20 years and just recently began building them again. This is only the second kit that I have completed since getting back into building models. I built this one for my fathers 63rd birthday present. This build took me 7 days and has 9 coats of yellow paint on it. I think it will be a very long time before I paint another yellow car! Any comments are welcome.
crazyjim Posted February 17, 2012 Posted February 17, 2012 Welcome back to the hobby, Alan. Nice looking Mustang. I bet Dad is happy with it. Do you live in the city or a suburb? I was in Aurora before moving to FLA. Dad is 63 and joined the Army. Obviously a Vietnam era Veteran. Please tell him I said WELCOME HOME!
Haubenschild Posted February 17, 2012 Posted February 17, 2012 Great job! , Is it painted phenocian yellow?

I live on the South Side of Chicago and yes he spent 2 years in Korea installing telephone equipment. Nice build Thank you.
alarmstrong Posted February 18, 2012 Author Posted February 18, 2012 Great job! , Is it painted phenocian yellow? I wish it was Phoenician Yellow... That would have been a little easier as Testors makes that color in a spray lacquer. His car was Sunlight Yellow, so I used the closest paint I cold find which was Krylon Lemon Meringue.
alarmstrong Posted February 18, 2012 Author Posted February 18, 2012 Nice Mustang. Unusal color as well. Thanks Lee. For some reason Ford had 3 different shades of yellow for the 64.5
Dirkpitt289 Posted February 22, 2012 Posted February 22, 2012 Nice looking Mustang. My first car was a Summertime yellow 64.5 convert . Nowhere near as nice as yours though. To bad the glue didn't dry as clear as it should have behind the head lamps
pancake Posted February 23, 2012 Posted February 23, 2012 nice! I live in joliet. Any clubs around here?
alarmstrong Posted May 16, 2012 Author Posted May 16, 2012 The glue did end up drying clear on the headlights, I took the picture a few minutes after installing them.
