Had to go to a Funeral today for one of my Great Aunts, at the end of the Service one of my other Great Aunt's (family of 4 girls, 3 boys) said she had a box for me, sure enough she gave it to me, I didn't bother to open it then and just did, Below is a typed version of the note she included:

Nicholas,

The White truck is the company your Great Unlce Harold worked for when he came home from the War, He did well and ended up an executive.

The two cars came straight from GM in Oshawa. In the Good old days! When you won a curling chamionship they gave you a car as well as your prize.

Do with them whatever you wish,

Love Aunt June.

Below is what I found in the box.

Yes that's a '75 Vega Promo and '70 Impala Promo,

Bittersweet...sweat, not too bitter, just gross. :D

Condolences regarding your great Aunt June, but that was a very kind gesture on her part. Kind of cruel, too, since one is a Vega :D , but I'm sure she knew you'd very much enjoy them both. :)

As we discussed, Nick, as sad as it may be, this is all part of growing up. I'm very sorry for your loss and hope you take comfort in that those who are your friends here are here for you if you need us, and that it's quite obvious your aunt cared for you a great deal.

As to those models, you've already started to clean them up, not a bad idea, just be very careful of that truck, as a lot of cleaners, even mild soaps, can attack the printing.

As to value- considering their source and the family attachment- priceless.

Sorry for your loss. It must be comforting to know that you are held in high esteem buy your family members that gave you these models. Thay realized that you would keep them and care for them. Other wise these would have just been thrown in the trash.

Thanks guys, yes I've started going over what they need to once again be perfect (in my eyes anyway), on the list is a good cleaning and polish, new glass for the Impala and one tailight for the Vega as well as all the chrome being redone (thinking replated or alcalad)
