Okay i just airbrushed 71 cuda with tamiya orange for the most part it was spraying with a fine mist but every now and then there would be some larger than mist spots show up i thinned it and air psi was about 20 25 psi what would have been the cause of the small blobs

A dirty tip. If there's paint buildup on the nozzle, sometimes you'll get spitting or "blobbing" of the paint.

it did have a bit of a build up guess i'll keep an eye on it in the future thanks

I would say the same thing don`t use airbrush but have in the pass and whenever the needle was dirty it would do that.

I agree with Harry. Paint can build up on the tip and will usually spit off at the most inopportune time. Its something to keep an eye out for when spraying and I keep a Q tip

soaked in thinner handy to wipe the tip if i see any build up of paint occurring. I've got 6 air brushes of various brands and they can all do it maybe due to the thinning ratio/ air

pressure/ moons not aligned or what ever.

What did you use to thin the Tamiya Paint..????

if i got it i use tamiya thinner which i did if i don't have it i use 70 % iso alcohol

Daryl, the trick is to keep wiping the tip every second spray or so, just so that nothing builds on it. Also, get into the habit of screen-sifting your paint so that you don't have any dry particles in it. Both of those things should help you stay spraying without problems.

Years of selling and servicing airbrushes of all types during my time working in, and owning, hobby shops is that if you are getting intermittent, random droplets of paint splattering on the surface, the most likely cause is a damaged needle or in the case of the Binks Wren/Badger 350/Paasche H, the cause is a burr on the tip of the needle. This is caused by dropping the airbrush on the tip, which will bend the very tip of the needle/material control unit.

When that happens, paint gathers on the damaged tip, until the air moving around it blows that paint loose and onto your paint job. Solution? Replace the offending part!

Another possibility is if the paint was decanted from a spray can it was not allowed to gas out completely. Also if the vent whole an the jar lid is blocked this can happen.

I" keep a q tip by my side from now on ,i know when i cleaned the brush there was a build up of paint on the tip thanks guys
