Truck parts Posted March 24, 2012 Posted March 24, 2012 Mack trucks could be built all Mack, engines trans, and rear end.I think they had a gold Mack bulldog on the top of the hood. Silver Mack were on trucks that was not pure Mack. They had fuller trans or something else in the drive line.
pete3522 Posted March 24, 2012 Author Posted March 24, 2012 think i have the hood scaled right its 2 1/8 to make it the rs-700l hood it would have to be 2 1/2 scale inches so i would have to add 1/4 to the back of the hood think i am right i figured that out on a scale calculator
caboverkw Posted March 24, 2012 Posted March 24, 2012 think i have the hood scaled right its 2 1/8 to make it the rs-700l hood it would have to be 2 1/2 scale inches so i would have to add 1/4 to the back of the hood think i am right i figured that out on a scale calculator The AITM R700's hood measures right at 2 3/4".
pete3522 Posted March 24, 2012 Author Posted March 24, 2012 (edited) http://think i am goin to add a 3/4 or a inch to the back of the hood the sleeper is 50" it scales to 2 7/16 " length if igured 3 1/2 inches height width is 3 7/16 i went off the real sleeper measurements then used a scale calculator this i will scratch build when i am sure the measurements are correct i also have to figure the exhaust cut out on the right side Edited March 24, 2012 by pete3522
pete3522 Posted March 24, 2012 Author Posted March 24, 2012 i think i will make this out of thin cardboard as a mock up before i build it from styrene
pete3522 Posted March 29, 2012 Author Posted March 29, 2012 (edited) http://">http://well i found a convoy mack lot on ebay which was perfect for this build has the resin 2 hole buds resin dual air tanks on the battery boxes also included in this lot was the ertl incorrect convoy mack which some of the parts were already used from it such as the bull bumper the grille wasnt used but to my suprise this mack has a metal western grille?? But any way i got it with a aitm 60" sleeper which the exhaust cut out was made but i will not use this as this would be incorrect! I will scratch build a sleeper. Besides the incorrect almost complete kit i got on this lot was the correct convoy decal sheet from www.modeltrucken.com plus a decal sheet which covers all mack models made then to my suprise a itareli western star was thrown in almost complete think i got a steal for what i paid!! But any way so far i took another hood cause the one that came with it everything was epoxyed in heavily which melted the hood around the headlights and grille so i used one of the hoods out of the previous mack lot i bought i extended it 5/8 of a inch on the back side which i think it looks good as you will see in the pics next i have to fabricate new fuel tanks as the stock step barrel tanks were used which is incorrect.Well heres where i am at so farhttp:// Edited March 29, 2012 by pete3522
