Dominik Posted March 11, 2012 Posted March 11, 2012 Hi, today i will show you my '65 Buick Riviera. It is based on the amt-kit. I only changed the wheels, took some from Pegasus Wheels and made a smooth custom. The rest of the Buick is out of the box. No wiring, nothing "special" under the hood. I took this one to test alclad, a little bit of airbrushwork and "how to repair mismatched paintjob". Here we go:
Dominik Posted March 11, 2012 Author Posted March 11, 2012 Thats it. Nothing special. Comments welcome - as always
bbowser Posted March 11, 2012 Posted March 11, 2012 I like it. Love the lines of those Riv's. Great job on the interior.
Cory22 Posted March 11, 2012 Posted March 11, 2012 I love that paint job! Did you just tape the lines?
Dominik Posted March 11, 2012 Author Posted March 11, 2012 (edited) Thank you for comments! Cory, I just brushed the lines on the side: Edited March 11, 2012 by Dominik
Monty Posted March 12, 2012 Posted March 12, 2012 Way to go, Domink! Your color choices really work well on that body style, and the red pinstripe provides the perfect accent. What paints did you use for the two main colors?
Cory22 Posted March 12, 2012 Posted March 12, 2012 Probably an amatuer question but you cut the lines in te tape before you put it on the model ? Im not that good with the taping yet.
Mike Kucaba Posted March 12, 2012 Posted March 12, 2012 Nice clean build and a good choice for the colors.
Scuderia Posted March 12, 2012 Posted March 12, 2012 yeah i'm with the others, that's awesome. Love it.
Harry P. Posted March 12, 2012 Posted March 12, 2012 I don't think I've ever seen brake calipers positioned like that on a real car... and the fronts are in different positions on the left and right...
Dominik Posted March 15, 2012 Author Posted March 15, 2012 (edited) Thanks for kind words buddies - i like the different colours too. Makes the bodyline more sexy, than painted in one color. Harry, you have a sharp eye I saw the front brake calipers after makking the photos in this different positions, while i checked the pictures in the posting. I fixed it after the photosession before he parkes in his garage Cory, there are no "silly" questions. Its alright . I did not cut the line in one tape on the body. i took an upper one to fix it on the bodyline and taped an other lower one to get this fine redline. If you think, i am a profi on this kind of paintjob, you will laugh. Its my first try to do this work. I regular take my airbrush for weathering, not for detailing, i'm always trying more and more. Thank you Monty, I use paint out of the spray can (?), these are colors from "K"-Paints (the silver) and the blue is mixed up from a partsshop for real cars. The producer is ...i think its named "multona", also a label from the "Kwasny Product Family". If you want a photo from the can, i will make one Thanks again for comments. Makes me a little bit proud of this "terrible" to built kit. Edited March 15, 2012 by Dominik
Cory22 Posted March 15, 2012 Posted March 15, 2012 Huh guess that makes complete sense! Thanks for the response lol
Ryan S. Posted March 15, 2012 Posted March 15, 2012 Nice! The red pinstripe on the side was a good call, it really sets off the 2 paint colors.
