Doesn't really look like one either.
camaroman Posted March 18, 2012 Posted March 18, 2012 this " distributor " has got to go I count twelve plug wire attachment points you are right to ditch unless this is an exotic build...
tim_g Posted March 19, 2012 Author Posted March 19, 2012 I count twelve plug wire attachment points you are right to ditch unless this is an exotic build... ya I counted 12 too........not sure why it's only a GTO nothing exotic
sak Posted March 19, 2012 Posted March 19, 2012 Looks alright now. Dont understand the red starter motor and blue alternator tho
moparmagiclives Posted March 19, 2012 Posted March 19, 2012 I am being serious as i do not know. Did the cars of that time use a magneto like a lawn mower? Not from the factory, but when doing something such a blower, yes. better clearence and a better spark under load if I remember hearing correctly. I count twelve plug wire attachment points you are right to ditch unless this is an exotic build... I'm still willing to bet those are not where the plugs would hook up. But good job on the swap either way. looks good !!!
tim_g Posted March 20, 2012 Author Posted March 20, 2012 when I paint I go with colours I like........not always factory colours.
tim_g Posted March 20, 2012 Author Posted March 20, 2012 okay doing linkage on these carburetors will test my imagination

tim_g Posted March 20, 2012 Author Posted March 20, 2012 I remember some-one suggested using fishing line as a fuel line so I thought I'd give it a try
tim_g Posted March 22, 2012 Author Posted March 22, 2012 (edited) what grade fishing line is that? ya I know it looks a little heavy doesn't it? 30 LB.......... it's what I had on hand Edited March 22, 2012 by tim_g
crazyjim Posted March 22, 2012 Posted March 22, 2012 (edited) Looking pretty good. I've been putting throttle linkage on my builds but can never get a decent, close up pic. basically I drill a hole in the carb(s) and glue in a piece of wire. Over the wire goes a #1 bead crimp. The linkage arm is made from flat Evergreen with 3 holes drilled in it. Center hole over the wire in the carb. One hole for the cable going to gas pedal. Other hole is for the return spring that's made from Radio Shack wrapping wire. If multiple carbs, I use the same procedure but use a piece of wire tie from bread to connect the 2 linkage arms, Wal-mart sell the clear and transparent red 30# test fishing line.
