Are there any non PE options? Maybe a beading pin smashed flat?

Rob...draw one out on a scrap of .040 sheet, cut a piece much longer than will fit (used as handle for paint), shape and drill to your needs...most brackets, 'cept custom are not chrome but painted black

I am being serious as i do not know.

Did the cars of that time use a magneto like a lawn mower?

Not from the factory, but when doing something such a blower, yes. better clearence and a better spark under load if I remember hearing correctly.

I'm still willing to bet those are not where the plugs would hook up.

But good job on the swap either way. looks good !!!

Looking pretty good. I've been putting throttle linkage on my builds but can never get a decent, close up pic. basically I drill a hole in the carb(s) and glue in a piece of wire. Over the wire goes a #1 bead crimp. The linkage arm is made from flat Evergreen with 3 holes drilled in it. Center hole over the wire in the carb. One hole for the cable going to gas pedal. Other hole is for the return spring that's made from Radio Shack wrapping wire. If multiple carbs, I use the same procedure but use a piece of wire tie from bread to connect the 2 linkage arms,

Wal-mart sell the clear and transparent red 30# test fishing line.
