bowtie1 Posted May 28, 2012 Posted May 28, 2012 I LOVE IT The attention to detail is AWSOME!!!!!!!!!!!!! You have some serious skills!!!!!!!! Jeff.
bbowser Posted May 29, 2012 Posted May 29, 2012 IMO wrinkle-wall slicks don't wrinkle until you drop the hammer. Sitting still there wouldn't be wrinkles, other than looking slightly underinflated. Great model!
tyrone Posted May 29, 2012 Posted May 29, 2012 this build is TREMENDOUS.... I love your attention to detail Louie.... looks very good...

eviltwincustoms Posted May 30, 2012 Posted May 30, 2012 yep, I have to agree with what has already been said. If you don't know much about these cars.... you sure had me fooled because they look spot on! You did a fantastic job in detailing out the cobalt. Look forward to seeing our next project!

I agree 100% Louie!, without people like Dave Smith, Chris Sobak, Tyrone Price & of course Rom! plus all the other great builders here I think alot of us would be lost! Johnny Racer Posted May 30, 2012 Posted May 30, 2012 Awesome looking build! You nailed it. Actually when you have a larger tire as the pro stocks do, the slicks will have a slight "wrinkle" to the them even standing still. Its not as exagerated as when they lunch and has a lot to do with how low some of teams run their air pressure. On most drag slicks, a wrinkle on lunch should come up to about the 1o o'clock position of the tire. I think everything looks great! Where on earth did you get those rims and carburators from???
pharr7226 Posted May 31, 2012 Posted May 31, 2012 Your detail and execution is fantastic. Is that a Ross Gibson engine?
Chuck Most Posted May 31, 2012 Posted May 31, 2012 i said i didnt know much about drag cars.. That certainly doesn't show- everything looks like it's there, and where it's supposed to be! I'm not very knowledgable about modern drag cars myself, but I don't think I could make one look as good as yours.
lou s Posted May 31, 2012 Author Posted May 31, 2012 its the revell engine that came with LAPD camaro.i scratch bilt the manifold used pro tech demon carbs and scale repos valve covers. his valve covers are great but when i set them on the heads they set a little high so i used a saw and cut them down a little. i then polished them up and they came out great.the oil tank and pullys are machined aluminum spec.the rims are micro nitro.
vintagedragfan Posted June 2, 2012 Posted June 2, 2012 yea Lou, this is top notch work man, I think you should stick with the drag themed cars!
Kanedge Posted June 3, 2012 Posted June 3, 2012 Awesome work, would love to see better quality pictures of the interior and how you wired it up (so I can copy, of course )
Johnny Racer Posted June 3, 2012 Posted June 3, 2012 scale repos valve covers. his valve covers are great but when i set them on the heads they set a little high so i used a saw and cut them down a little. i then polished them up and they came out great. Thanks for all your info. Is there a website somewhere that I can locate those valve covers???
lou s Posted June 3, 2012 Author Posted June 3, 2012 ill try with some better picures when i post the finshed pics...............i think if you google scale repos plus it will come up.look for the cast metal large valve covers.
lou s Posted June 10, 2012 Author Posted June 10, 2012 99.9% done.i still have to add the shute riggings and the wing supports and a few odds and ends.i was hoping to have this car ready for the heartland nationals but it didnt happen so im showing it here.
tyrone Posted June 10, 2012 Posted June 10, 2012 Looks Awesome Lou.... you should be very proud of this one... I know I would.....
Dragracer Posted June 11, 2012 Posted June 11, 2012 I agree with the 2 pros above me, it looks awesome Lou!
