dwdirks Posted June 22, 2007 Posted June 22, 2007 I will be visiting the Bay area next week and would like to know if there are any hobby shops in the area that I should visit. I am especially interested in plastic model cars and 1/32 scale slot cars. Advice about good hobby shops to visit will be greatly appreciated.
simonr Posted June 24, 2007 Posted June 24, 2007 There's one named San Antonio Hobbies in San Jose, it has a HUGE selection of EVERYTHING. You should look for it on the web or on the phonebook. Simon Rivera
Exotics_Builder Posted June 24, 2007 Posted June 24, 2007 How can one leave out D&J Hobbies in Campbell
dwdirks Posted June 25, 2007 Author Posted June 25, 2007 Thanks to Simon and Gerry for hobby shop suggestions in the greater Bay area. I will look up your recommendations.
Rob Hall Posted June 26, 2007 Posted June 26, 2007 I've heard of both of those..will have to make a point of checking them out...whenever I'm in the Bay Area I'm always there for work (computers) or geeking out with friends (going to places like Urban Ore or Fry's Electronics)..
bsoder Posted June 26, 2007 Posted June 26, 2007 ATTENTION!!! San Antonio Hobbys in Mt. View is NO LONGER IN BUSINESS the family owned business was closed by the owners over a year ago    ..D&J is still going strong in Cambell and SF has several the oldest I remember is Franciscan Hobbies on Ocean. Their are also a few Hobbytowns in the Bay area...B
dwdirks Posted June 26, 2007 Author Posted June 26, 2007 Brian, thanks for the bad news about San Antonio hobbies. Seems like it is hard for hobby shops to stay in business these days. dwdirks
Tony Posted June 27, 2007 Posted June 27, 2007 There is also a small hobby store going out of busness this week in Dublin, this Saturday the July 1 is their last day open. The name of the store is Wold"s Hobbies 7100 Village Parkway Dublin 94568. The last time I was in there he had 1/32 slots cars and 1/24. It is about 25 miles from San Jose and 50 miles for San Fransico.
jbwelda Posted July 4, 2007 Posted July 4, 2007 youre probably there and back by now but theres also ace hardware in berkeley, near where university avenue "T's" into the university campus. the basement has a large and well stocked model department with a lot of obscure resin parts, slot cars and kits. there are also architecture modelling departments and a ton of hot wheels etc.
dwdirks Posted July 10, 2007 Author Posted July 10, 2007 I did manage to visit D & J Hobbies in Campbell when I was in the San Jose area last week. Good hobby shop with lots to see and buy. Thanks for the good shopping advice.
