crazyjim Posted March 31, 2012 Posted March 31, 2012 A 1956 Chevy 2 door post was my first car (1964) and I've loved them ever since. This version is painted with HOK burgundy kandy with a little bit of pearl ex powder mixed in the first clear coat. The stock exhaust was used until it met up with the capped headers. Wheels & tires came from the parts box (I don't remember which kit). I recessed the license plate just for the heck of it. The bucket seats are my castings from a '57 Chevy Nomad kit. The intake manifold is also one of my castings but I don't know the source of the original. I don't really care for the stock taillights and would much rather have the Lee Plastics units that I had on my 1:1. You know - the full lenses that forced you to re-route the gas filler to inside the trunk. I used the kit lowered front suspension and stock height rear to get the rake I wanted. So here's the pics -
Dominik Posted March 31, 2012 Posted March 31, 2012 Hi Jim! Nice color you choosed - i like it! Looks clean an shiny. Well Done!
crazyjim Posted March 31, 2012 Author Posted March 31, 2012 Hey thanks, Dominik. SHINY :) is the only way.
Sam Cates Posted March 31, 2012 Posted March 31, 2012 Jim, it looks great, love the color and details! SHINY!!!
Dr. Cranky Posted March 31, 2012 Posted March 31, 2012 Jim, that's some of the best flocking I've seen on any model. It's beautiful. Great job on the color too. Nice build, buddy.
heatride Posted March 31, 2012 Posted March 31, 2012 Beautiful Jim ! and like Joker said the stance is great .........
rmvw guy Posted April 1, 2012 Posted April 1, 2012 Very nice Jim! Ironically I just tried posting my first ride, a '55 Chevy Del Ray from 1966. Could not get image to paste. (Why do I keep having this problem?) It was the most fun build I've ever had, it brought back so many memories. I still love the old tri-5s.
outlaw035 Posted April 1, 2012 Posted April 1, 2012 jim...really nice 56...nice wheels...sits nice tooo...and its SHINY...what else...
crazyjim Posted April 1, 2012 Author Posted April 1, 2012 I nused the same method of flocking as always Dr. Cranky. Slightly diluted Elmer's glue brushed on, Ken's Fuzzi Fur through a strainer/sifter and onto the wet glue. Press down the fur with fingertip. Wait 10 or 15 minutes and shake off the excess fur. Do all this on a piece of paper so you can pour the excess back into the fur container.
crazyjim Posted April 1, 2012 Author Posted April 1, 2012 Thanks guys. You know me , Neal. SHINY :) RULES!
geetee66 Posted April 1, 2012 Posted April 1, 2012 Another quality build, Jim. This is the level of skill I aspire to. Totally delicious.
TheCat Posted April 2, 2012 Posted April 2, 2012 AWESOME Job on this 56 Jim. Love the interior and engine compartment detail.
crazyjim Posted April 2, 2012 Author Posted April 2, 2012 Thanks Felix. Got another one and am not quite sure which way to build it yet.
TheCat Posted April 2, 2012 Posted April 2, 2012 I know what you mean. I have one myself and I'm not sure how to build it... I'm leaning toward a factory stock, but not sure yet.
crazyjim Posted April 3, 2012 Author Posted April 3, 2012 It's not tubbed, Tim. I tweaked the wheels somewhat so they would fit inside the body.
