geordie Posted April 5, 2012 Posted April 5, 2012 Very nicely detailed, very clean build, good job, look forward to seeing more.
zaina Posted May 1, 2012 Author Posted May 1, 2012 finaly got back to this one. i couldnt find any wheels that would fit so i ordered some from scenes unlimited and had to cut the centers out and put them into some rims that would fit the tires. also got it painted and cleared today...dupont base/clear lemon twist.
crazyjim Posted May 1, 2012 Posted May 1, 2012 Nice job on the wheels even though you destroyed the Spyders. Paint is bright and Shiny :)
Guest Posted May 1, 2012 Posted May 1, 2012 Nice work so far! The interior and engine look really nice. Those wheels are really going to look cool! Since you're building this for a contest, I gotta point something out. When Monogram produced this kit, they made the seperation lines on the front valence in the wrong spots. They should on the front instead of on the side. Where they have it seperated is actually part of the fender. Here's a photo that shows what I'm describing. http://www.rkmotorscharlotte.com/photo/fullscreen/42707c116b I know this info is way late, but if you have another body laying around,it's an easy fix and it improves the appearance a lot. Please don't take this as criticism because it's not meant to be. The only reason I know this info is because I just recently built this kit and studied a lot of photos of the real car. I also came up with a little trick on the rear valence.
zaina Posted May 1, 2012 Author Posted May 1, 2012 thanks for the info. when this build was in the mockup stage i was goin to mold the fenders but i didnt think i could get the chassis to fit. i thought about it for a long time and decided it would be easier to just install it later...not really happy with the line in the fenders but it is too late now...oh well.
Guest Posted May 1, 2012 Posted May 1, 2012 thanks for the info. when this build was in the mockup stage i was goin to mold the fenders but i didnt think i could get the chassis to fit. i thought about it for a long time and decided it would be easier to just install it later...not really happy with the line in the fenders but it is too late now...oh well. The way I did mine was I glued it only where the valence met the fenders. When it was dry,I cut the valence where it should be and pulled the grille and valence back out. I also cut the grille loose from the valence because I wanted the grille to be the charcoal color. The first time I built this kit,I had a heck of time getting the front and rear valences installed.
surfjunke Posted May 1, 2012 Posted May 1, 2012 Nice looking Cuda. Really great work on the interior. Like the idea on the wheels.
zaina Posted May 4, 2012 Author Posted May 4, 2012 thanks for the comments everyone. got a lot done on this one in the last couple days...maybe a couple more to go. got the dog dishes machined tonight...i think they look pretty close to the real ones. will probably be under glass on the next post. thanks for looking.
Car Crazy 81 Posted May 4, 2012 Posted May 4, 2012 Looks pretty good, Andy keep up the great work now you giving me ideas on how to build my 71 'Cuda. I dig the machined dogdish hubcaps.
