Hippie Posted April 20, 2012 Posted April 20, 2012 (edited) Hello, I'd like to build all of the Porshe super cars, the 959, the 911 GT1 Straßenversion, and the Carrera GT. I also like the Gemballa cars, except only the Carrerea is a actual Gemballa car, so I'm making up this one. Its going to be part of a personal group build, I have the transkit for the Tamiya Carrera kit, but the other two I'm just going out on a whim, in theory this is possible Gemballa exited before the 959 came in to production. Starting with the 959,to be a Gemballa it needs a huge scoop on the roof, and other tacky looking bolt on's The kit didn't have any sort of trunk detail, so the hood was cut off then bellow detailed, I strayed from the usual, and designed the area like a race car, acting as this was one of the things Gemballa worked on. The kits engine is mostly hidden so its basicly stock, the fiberglass piece (red thing) on top of the engine was redone to have the texture of glassfiber, some wires were added, and fuel rails where added along with a few bits and pices of photoeched. And here's the overal shot For the other car so far i have only worked on the Carrera, the trans kit isn't perfect, Thanks for looking and your coments are apprecated Edited April 20, 2012 by Hippie
LAone Posted April 20, 2012 Posted April 20, 2012 nice work so far. im digging the imagineering you have going on. keep it up.
Chillyb1 Posted April 20, 2012 Posted April 20, 2012 A very cool project. Good luck with it. I love the 959 but I didn't care for the kit and don't think I'll build it again. But I'm looking forward to yours. l
Hippie Posted April 21, 2012 Author Posted April 21, 2012 (edited) Hello thank you for all the comments. First off progress on the 959, the front hood area has been finished: In the interior everything is basic black, all the carpet has been done with flocking, seatbelts have been added and a few extra switches on the dash/centercouncil. The front seats have not yet been added, but there in the works, planning a few modifications to them. To make the car more “racy” I have added a roll bar, it fallows the B post to kinda hide its self later I’ll paint it black. Also the hood has been carbon fibered but no pictures yet. Thanks for looking and again thanks for the comments. Edited April 21, 2012 by Hippie
Dr. Cranky Posted April 21, 2012 Posted April 21, 2012 Wonderful details and I like the fact that it's turning into a daily driver with some subtle weathering.
Hippie Posted April 21, 2012 Author Posted April 21, 2012 Work has also commenced on the Carrera, Here is the transkit: First I’m working on the ground effects, first off the original: Then replaced: Only problem is that they don’t fit…. So using a heat gun I bent them back in to shape, then I cut the two sections apart and refit them on to the body A few of the part where damaged, namely the rear clip and part of the side skirts, I shaped a piece of plastic to replace the damaged area and used filler to smooth it all out, here’s a pic before there all sanded: Thank you for looking and thanks again for your comments.
3men2s Posted April 23, 2012 Posted April 23, 2012 very interesting subject, I'll be paying attention sir.
Hippie Posted May 1, 2012 Author Posted May 1, 2012 (edited) Hello everyone and thanks for the comments they mean a lot. The 959 is almost finished, the whole car was painted in white primmer then gloss white, then I use a semi-gloss clear to kinda dull the paint, my goal is to make kinda a street legal rally car. Also the interior is finished sadly I have forgotten to take any pictures before being attached to the body. And way here’s some general pictures. (the mirrors are only a test fit) I realize that the finish isn’t exactly the best but there was a contest this weekend that I wanted to take it to so I ended up kinda in a rush. Thanks for looking guys, and any comments or help is appreciated Edited May 1, 2012 by Hippie
Jantrix Posted May 1, 2012 Posted May 1, 2012 Very cool looking. I'm hoping to see an eye searing paint job.
Hippie Posted May 22, 2012 Author Posted May 22, 2012 (edited) Hello everyone! and thanks Janterix realize I'm a few days late but thanks anyway... Well if you remember the hole goal of this build was to have something new to bring to a contest. well It didn't turn out to good but it basically was put on the shelf, but on another form many people thought that it couldn't came to be a Gemballa because of the lack of body mods. So now I think I'm going for my first real body kit. My main problem is the style for the 80's I kinda want it to be period correct but i kinda wasn't born yet. So here's my try on a crazy custom car in the 80's Basically I redid all the vents on the front and back, Here's some close ups (nothings finished yet) (The little white square's left from the light and will get filled later.) Also I added some sort of thing extending the fender, a reverse scoop I think you would call it... And my main problem the front hood trying to not be to "ricerish" think I failed..... try again latter I suppose. planed things would be a front spoiler, a rear diffuse, and the scoops modified on the side but they haven't been built yet. Thanks for looking every body and I'd like to hear what you think about the body kit before I try the other side. Edited May 22, 2012 by Hippie
