I've just been looking at Martinfan's Monaro build and thought I'd post this one as well , I did it a year or more ago as part of a group build on another forum . I didn't want to buy the resin conversion kit so set about making the kit dash RHD which was very easy , I've set out the pictures below as a bit of a guide for anybody who wants to do the same . Maybe Martinfan can also show how he converted the nose piece to be more like the Monaro one . I only used part of the kit nose and bodgied the rest to look like a Comodore (The four door sedan the Monaro is based on, I figured someone using it for an off road racer would use the cheapest parts they could when they were the first bit to hit a tree tc ...) nose on top of a hefty bumper .

I cut the rear half of the dash off ,

Then split the dash into three pieces ,

Then joined them back up before filing , filling and shaping , a few lines (side of glovebox etc) had to be rescribed too . To be more accurate the instrument cluster could be moved a little to the left as well but this looks good with the roll cage in with it ,

My Monaro uses the suspension (more travel) , wheels , seats and roll cage from a Tamiya Subaru WRX . A mate printed up the decals for me with some fictional businesses using friends names and me being the driver and my boys being navigators .

Just realised that the last two shots there are almost finished and the body wasn't seated right , will take some new photo's of it now it has been weathered a bit as well .

Thats for the pics, I am going to have to give it shot, I dont have any pics of the nose piece, but all I did was sanded down the upper grill to remove the Pontiac part, the I cut it open, filled the sides a little bit, and then added a strip of styrene to middle of it.

And for the lower grill opening, I filled the sides in just a little bit, and the same with the driving lights. I should of filled the sides of the upper grill in a little more.

That's a whacky looking monaro you ended up with. you probably could have painted the inside of the headlight silver would make it a lot better looking. other than that, well done. i would have cut the dash differently, by taking the instrument cluster out and a matching box on the other side, but whatever works for you to build your skills.

i did an alfa dash by cutting it into four parts to keep the symmetry.
