Casey Posted April 28, 2012 Posted April 28, 2012 Allpar has some stuff about the Barracuda coming on an Alfa Romeo platform, but I dont see anything on the Cuda. Either way, I dont see another V8 car comming around. Other then very limited #s. I had read the same thing, too- a new 'Cuda based on an Alfa platform, rather than the current Challenger/Charger platform. I had also read it will have the Pentastar V6 engine with forced induction, not a V8, and will replace the Challenger. With V6 Camaros putting out 304 horsepower as a base model and CAFE standards ever increasing, I don't see a need to keep the six-year old Challenger when a smaller, lighter, more efficient car can provide the same (or very similar) performance...and probably for a lower price point, too.
Joe Handley Posted April 28, 2012 Posted April 28, 2012 If they can make this new Barracuda so it's close in size and weight to my 200 but with rear or all wheel drive and with the lower output motor like the 200's, it should be pretty impressive as a daily driver/cruiser. As strong running as the Pentastar is in the 200's (far as I can tell, the sedans are solid 14 second cars with 14.38 with the Mopar intake and exhaust being the quickest I know of) make it RWD or AWD and strap a couple haidriers to one, this could be the formula for an absolute monster of a street car!

That's what is cool about the Romeo plat form the dart is built on. It can be set up as fwd, rwd, or awd at the factory. Pretty smart I think, for up comming models they may want to release. Joe Handley Posted April 30, 2012 Posted April 30, 2012 I read somewhere that the Renault platform (apparently inherited through AMC) that the LH cars were built on was like that. That's supposedly why the Charger Concept Car was built on the second gen Intrepid and had the slinky, low nosed, cab forward aero look.
dieseldog1970 Posted May 1, 2012 Posted May 1, 2012 I follow Allpar on a daily basis, there is talk of a smaller car with a supercharged 6.2 HEMI, but will be called the "Cuda...hard to say, Dan Gurney has the trademark rights to that name. Barracuda? possibly...but the 2013 Dart was not called that until shortly before the debut, it was called the Hornet!!!
