Badluck 13 Posted May 2, 2012 Posted May 2, 2012 Looks like you need to build more "Non Racing" cars!!!,beautiful!!!!
Jantrix Posted May 2, 2012 Posted May 2, 2012 Can you tell us a bit how you accomplished the "humpback" portion of the body? Really nice work.
Art Laski Posted May 2, 2012 Posted May 2, 2012 (edited) Bill, Nice job! Was this a resin conversion? I've been looking to build a 37 humpback for my father-in-law since he owns one, but the only resin body I located was a bit pricey for me. I have a die cast I may modify, but was curious what you used. thanks, Art Edited May 2, 2012 by Art Laski
wcbrown Posted May 2, 2012 Author Posted May 2, 2012 thanks guys!! this was an OLD mad dogs resin kit, it was in BAD, i mean B A D shape, warped. uneven thickness. it took a lot of finessing to fit the monogram donor chassis. i am not sure if they are still in business, anyone that i talked to that worked with their products had horror stories. i was trying to download some engine shots last night. they wouldn't "finalize" for some reason. i'll see if i can get more up. i had this displayed at a regional IPMS in pittsburgh awhile ago and there was a guy that just kept walking up to the model, fine toothing it, backing off, and then repeating. i thought it was odd finally he asked who the builder was and i introduced myself, HE was the guy that painted the 1:1 car!!! he asked where i got the paint that it was spot on! really cool i came up with that shade through trial and error, and a LOT of luck. a blend of pactra paints, the engine block IS actually rose, the owner told me he didn't have any other paint at the time, and the chassis is a metallic grey. i will also try and get some better side views, boyd coddington wheels
Guest Posted May 2, 2012 Posted May 2, 2012 That's a cool '37! Do you have any more photos? I would like to see a dead on side shot of it.
wcbrown Posted May 2, 2012 Author Posted May 2, 2012 (edited) i'll get some more shots, i just bought a new digital camera last month and like a knucklehead the resolution was WAY to high to download here. i did everything on this he did! the side mirrors were from a caprice, so are these, the front buckets from a fiero, ditto, i'll try to get some interior shots also i know those are almost impossible. Grumpa Posted May 3, 2012 Posted May 3, 2012 Looks like you need to build more "Non Racing" cars!!!,beautiful!!!! I've got to agree with Mike....you need a to add a few "Rods" to your repertoire! Nice looking build.
rmvw guy Posted May 3, 2012 Posted May 3, 2012 Nice job on the car and a good story to go with it! I've owned a 1:1 coupe and a flatback. Revell should make a humpback next. Right after I converted a flatback to a coupe they came out with the coupe.
hotrod59f100 Posted May 3, 2012 Posted May 3, 2012 Beautifully done. I seen a 1,1 one of these done up in the 90s just like this.
krazyglu Posted May 3, 2012 Posted May 3, 2012 I recognized this model right away and confirmed that it is in the Scale Auto '98-'99 contest annual. It caught my attention because both the style of car and color are different and I don't think I have ever seen another since. You have a really clean build style, I like the added details and the flawless paint work.
Eshaver Posted May 4, 2012 Posted May 4, 2012 I need to run down my former business partner . He had a 1936 Hump back . Ya'all are pretty close as his car was very similar to you're model . Great work too ! Ed Shaver
Jon Cole Posted May 4, 2012 Posted May 4, 2012 i'll get some more shots, i just bought a new digital camera last month and like a knucklehead the resolution was WAY to high to download here. i did everything on this he did! the side mirrors were from a caprice, so are these, the front buckets from a fiero, ditto, i'll try to get some interior shots also i know those are almost impossible. If you use a photo host site such as Fotki, it will automatically resize for you, and you will always have an easy to access photo album(s). Nice Ferd, btw! (Ford, Ferd, Ord, whateer!)
mickey1938 Posted May 4, 2012 Posted May 4, 2012 Those old Fords are Favorite Cars of all time, but I really did like the sound os a Flat Head with Dualos, this Hot Rod looks like a 1970 type Hot Rod were they Painted everything to match. A job well done, I love it!! mickey1938
wcbrown Posted May 4, 2012 Author Posted May 4, 2012 thanks for the compliments everyone. it sure was a fun build there were some fit issues and lot's of cussing! i think i logged around 450 hours in this all told.
Draggon Posted May 4, 2012 Posted May 4, 2012 Wow, thats nice. Unusual style these days, makes is very dated, therefore very cool! I think the monochrome pastel fluffy style is pretty nice now. I love it!!
Duntov Posted May 5, 2012 Posted May 5, 2012 I really like this one a lot. I live North of Atlanta and this time of year you see these cars running up and down I-75 every weekend.... You really caught the look and feel with this one... great job!!! Regards Bill (Duntov)
