Ken#5fan Posted May 8, 2012 Posted May 8, 2012 Hope pics aren't to big. In 1969 most if the major drivers boycotted the inaugural Talladegga 500 for safety concerns. Richard Brickhouse stood in as driver of Nichels #99 Daytona. He won the race and logged his only ever NASACAR win. I am using the Revell Daytona as my basis. Here is what i have
Scuderia Posted May 8, 2012 Posted May 8, 2012 looks like a good healthy start there im interested how this comes out, thanks!
bbowser Posted May 8, 2012 Posted May 8, 2012 Interesting subject. Everyone does the #71 K&K Superbird, this is a nice change of pace, and historically significant as well. Keep it going.
TooOld Posted May 8, 2012 Posted May 8, 2012 Ken , That's going to look great ! I've always wondered if any one would build Richard's winning car . Did you find decals for it ? Keep us updated . BOB .
Ken#5fan Posted May 8, 2012 Author Posted May 8, 2012 Thanks guys. Bob, the decal are by ACE/Powerslide and is available from Mike's Decal. This has been on the bench for about two years. Hoping to finish it for a contest in June.
DR JAY Posted May 23, 2012 Posted May 23, 2012 It's great to see that you have started on the fabricated K-member as well...as a NA$CAR modeller myself I really appreciate the details like that! It's easy to use the stock kit parts for stuff like that, but it takes research and dedication to accuracy to go the extra mile and add details like that. It also looks like you're prepping the firewall on the left side for the dry sump oil tank with the battery underneath--judging by the placement of the pencil markings. Great job so far!
MAGNUM4342 Posted May 23, 2012 Posted May 23, 2012 I always liked that car. The driver rebellion at Talladega was over safety issues with the pavement if I remember correctly. The track was coming up in chunks and the driver's felt it was unsafe.
bbowser Posted May 23, 2012 Posted May 23, 2012 Sorry Jacen, my mistake. I thought it was about the tires not holding up at the speeds they were reaching?
Ken#5fan Posted May 24, 2012 Author Posted May 24, 2012 Thanks for the compliments. It is still on the bench. Will post pics when i have some ready.
Ken#5fan Posted June 4, 2012 Author Posted June 4, 2012 (edited) How do I post a direct link to my photbucket album? Edited June 4, 2012 by Ken#5fan
RedBanditCustoms Posted June 13, 2012 Posted June 13, 2012 Thats a nice blueish purple! Good luck with the build!
TooOld Posted June 13, 2012 Posted June 13, 2012 How do I post a direct link to my photbucket album? That might be easier for you , but you will probably get more responses if you post the photos here . I for one don't like clicking a link to go to another site .
dimebolt Posted June 22, 2012 Posted June 22, 2012 This looks like it's gonna be a superb build. Great work so far. Corey
Old Coyote Posted June 22, 2012 Posted June 22, 2012 That's a beautiful start sir ........ I will be watching this one B)
