brett Posted May 17, 2012 Posted May 17, 2012 yeah I'm at it again weathers been to ###### to do any priming or painting so I decided to hack up another one. Reasonably simple one again and one I just happened to have a few spare bodies of............ the Revell 55 chevy pro sportsman. Now on its way to becoming a pro stalgia funny car.
gasser59 Posted May 17, 2012 Posted May 17, 2012 I'd say you're becoming a Body Man Brett. Looking good.
Dr. Cranky Posted May 17, 2012 Posted May 17, 2012 You got my attention, this thing is going to turn into a real monster of a build. Nice. Keep it going.
Dragracer Posted May 17, 2012 Posted May 17, 2012 Lookin' good Brett, add another one to the Collection!
eviltwincustoms Posted May 17, 2012 Posted May 17, 2012 Looking good Brett, nice "Chop, Cut, Rebuild" of that 55 into a FC! Keep them updates coming, excited to see what you have planned for a paint job as well.
tyrone Posted May 17, 2012 Posted May 17, 2012 Looks good Brett, you've got these funny cars down to a science..
dragnut Posted May 18, 2012 Posted May 18, 2012 Brett when extended the frt clip out did you wedge cut the center of body to taper down thanks steve.
brett Posted May 18, 2012 Author Posted May 18, 2012 Thanks guys, appreciate it. Steve no not intentionally but I've never been known for straight cuts lol. Though it did work out rather nicely . I am toying with the idea of a slight wedge along the sides to drop the sills to parallel with the ground, was also considering chopping about 3/8ths out of the length of the roof behind the b pillars and moving the forward part back to meet it. Any thought on that anyone? IMO it looks too long as is, would look worse as a coupe so shortening just the roof above the qtr dip would proportion it out a little better. look forward to any helpful input, cheers Brett
Mooneyzs Posted May 18, 2012 Posted May 18, 2012 Brett... I am loving this body man. Killer work. I think this one has to be one of my favs you are doing. I think it looks perfect. you may be onto something by moving the forward part to meet it. I think it will look good. I know it will be a little more work but worth it to give you that exact look you are going for. Keep up the great work
pharr7226 Posted May 18, 2012 Posted May 18, 2012 I dig it Brett. The stretch looks good. For what it's worth, I vote for the wedge to drop the sides.
Romell R Posted May 18, 2012 Posted May 18, 2012 Brett you always seem to pull these off so effortlessly I cant wait to see what you have instore for this one Bro. Keep up the good work
brett Posted May 18, 2012 Author Posted May 18, 2012 (edited) Chris, I have no idea what look I'm going for I just hack em and wack em. If its going on a ready made chassis, its made to fit it and everything else is worked around from there. Shocking aye lol Oh and thanks guys, your input is always welcome, cheers Brett Edited May 18, 2012 by brett
brett Posted May 18, 2012 Author Posted May 18, 2012 as you can see 90% of the filler (bog) is gone, just a couple of low spots to fill
Dragracer Posted May 18, 2012 Posted May 18, 2012 The body is coming out nice Brett, I see you are making a new rear wing, wasn't gonna say anything but wasn't real crazy about the 1st wing you had on it (but that's just me! LOL!), you know you will have to do the Crown Victoria P/M (Jukebox Ford) into a F/C next!
brett Posted May 18, 2012 Author Posted May 18, 2012 (edited) Thanks for your opinion Richard. Just looking at different options for the rear wing at the moment. I have a few spare sets of spill plates so may modify a set to fit properly and scratch up something else. Out of interest, what is it you dont like about the first set ? (the camaros' by the way). I dont have a spare jukebox I'm afraid , thats the elusive one for me. My original broke after too many moves but the decals were pretty shot anyway so its in a box with a friends car in mind (same vic but with blown alcohol hemi in it) almost same color even. I have spare Carpenter cars and the repops a softseal 57 and a christene but keep missing on the ford. Edited May 18, 2012 by brett
Dragracer Posted May 18, 2012 Posted May 18, 2012 For the rear wing, I just didn't think it looked right on the '55 body style or as a F/C. Have 2 of the Crown Vic (they are in here with me instead of in Fl. like most of my stuff! LOL!), planning on on making 1 P/M outa them, lengthing the body between the doors & fender & from the grille to front wheelwell, bascially updating it to a more modern car, using 2 bodies to make 1. Like the '55, can't wait to see what you do next!
brett Posted May 19, 2012 Author Posted May 19, 2012 Jerred, is that a good wow ? Thanks for looking in. Well mocked up a couple of different wings 1 2 3 I'm leaning towards 2 but will shave a couple mm of the height of 3 either way the spare one will go on the T Bird
Mooneyzs Posted May 19, 2012 Posted May 19, 2012 Brett... Really like what you are doing. i am digging wing #2 personally. looks like it flows the best personally. keep up the great work
brett Posted May 19, 2012 Author Posted May 19, 2012 Chris ,I really liked 2 myself but after cutting it down a little wing 3 was def the one to use. Colors picked , twill be Blue and white stock style
Dragracer Posted May 19, 2012 Posted May 19, 2012 The '55 is looking fine Brett, the wing looks good too!
brett Posted May 21, 2012 Author Posted May 21, 2012 Thanks again Richard, I really appreciate it. Took a couple of goes to get it this far, as the blue ghosted several of the joins back up . So a sand ,some future and a recoat seems to have taken care of that so far. the blue is a candy over silver, had to decant it and spray through the airbrush as it pulled away from all edges and line etc then ran as it was so thin out of the can with the volume cans spray at
Dragracer Posted May 21, 2012 Posted May 21, 2012 The blue came ouit real nice Brett, can't wait to see her all painted up!, the classic blue/white should look great on her!
