le_marbrier Posted May 27, 2012 Posted May 27, 2012 (edited) Hi everybody, searching for some information about the AMT Transtar Eagle II kit, especially the front axle problem, I've found this forum and I was amazed by the high level of the Modelers here (hope, my english is understable, I'm a bit rusty) Since, I signed in, and go topics to topics to see how underskilled I am ! I practise truck modelling for quite some years, but no regularly, and buid them out-of-the box (because I hesitate to make transformations or improvements, fear of missing them) Below some of my models (please, don't laugh !) Trucks models on the run : (unfortunately I messed up with the decals of the trailor...) Edited February 23, 2013 by le_marbrier
plasticbutcher Posted May 27, 2012 Posted May 27, 2012 Welcome aboard, You have some very nice looking truck builds, I look forward to seeing more
ARTEMIS1759 Posted May 28, 2012 Posted May 28, 2012 Look good. Don't feel bad I am new to detailing out models (mainly since I just started putting them together again last year. Been about 15 years and never did detail before.) But now I am just giving anything I think is cool a shot. Lots of good info and members ready to give it here. Welcome. I have all American trucks as of late but I think I am going to break into the foreign market soon. I was stationed in Kosovo for 9 months so got to see a few there.
signguy2108 Posted May 28, 2012 Posted May 28, 2012 Welcome! Don't see anything here to laugh about, good looking trucks. You will find a whole world (no pun intended) on this forum.
signguy2108 Posted May 28, 2012 Posted May 28, 2012 Forgot to edit first! should say world of information on this forum.

Edsel-Dan Posted May 28, 2012 Posted May 28, 2012 Agreed. No laughing here. Maybe crying though!! I want that Benz 1017 TLF so bad!!. Hard to get here in the US, though I do have their TLF 8/18, RW-1, & DLK 23-12, as well as 2 of the Vanagon ELW and Volvo & Iveco versions of Italeri's DLK I Built Revell's F-12 Globetrotter too. (Got to take pictures of her!!!)
le_marbrier Posted May 28, 2012 Author Posted May 28, 2012 Thanks all ! Hard to get here in the US, though I do have their TLF 8/18, RW-1, & DLK 23-12, as well as 2 of the Vanagon ELW and Volvo & Iveco versions of Italeri's DLK Got the Iveco & Renault versions of the Italeri DLK (only the IVECO is re-released in Europe) there also a DAF version (never see it. I d like to get the 4 versions the DLK) the revell DLK, TLF 24/50, Unimog RW1 and the new Mercedes Atego TLF 16/25 & HLF 20/16 (but I don't really know what's the difference between them, excepted the decals.... ) My next model will be the Revell Scania Wrecker or the Revell Peterbilt Wrecker (the one with three rear axles...oh my God ! You ll never see this type of Wrecker in France) I think
cappy625 Posted May 28, 2012 Posted May 28, 2012 welcome franck. you will meet the most freindly and helpful people here. the front wheels on the transtar2 have to be moved in about 8mm and the front axle moved forward abit i think 8mm also. some builders cut the backing of the wheel it self. some shorten the axle. what ever way seems best. hope this helps.

Thanks Edited May 28, 2012 by le_marbrier
rctruk Posted May 28, 2012 Posted May 28, 2012 Great to have you here. Don't ever feel bad about your skill level. Modeling should be a fun hobby. I've been building on and off for 50 years and still build out of the box. You do very nice work.
le_marbrier Posted May 28, 2012 Author Posted May 28, 2012 thanks ! Hope to improve my paintings, since I've tried Airspray paint from Tamiya, because all the paintings were done with brushes until now (the result was not sastisfying when you looked closer to the cab). My first try of Airspray was on the tank trailer, if there was a problem, the decals would have hidden it lol !
Edsel-Dan Posted May 29, 2012 Posted May 29, 2012 I believe the Iveco is the only version of the Italeri DLK to be re-issued period!! over 80% of all I see are the Iveco!! I have seen the DAF a couple times, and the renault once or twice!! Without catalogs, I forget all the Fire kits Revell Of Germany has issued!! Like the Peterbilt Pumper, & the Airport Simba 8x8. I had 3 of the original TLF 8/18 kit. Got that all VERY Cheap Long time ago. Traded/sold 2 years ago, now have added the ones I listed. I have the chance for another RoG Benz DLK !!! just have to get my car fixed enough to get me to them to help for a day to pay for it!!!
cappy625 Posted May 29, 2012 Posted May 29, 2012 hello franck i remember my dad bought a new transtar 2 back in1976 the interior was maroon but so was the truck. i remember going with him to look at them.and i saw some with black interiors and some with tan. but they all seemed to have a black dash. i think 1976 was the first year for the black steering wheel. i'm not 100% sure but i think the transtar2 kit is a 1976. hope this helps.

hooknladderno1 Posted May 31, 2012 Posted May 31, 2012 (edited) Franck, Your models look great! Nothing to laugh at - at least you finish yours! I have 20-30 projects that I just "couldn't" build box stock. Thus, about 7 are completed. The rest are still " In progress"... Welcome to the forum. Look forward to your contributions. le_marbrier Posted July 15, 2012 Author Posted July 15, 2012 Hi, some new pics of my Transtar, thanks to you, I think the front axle problem is resolved, but is it normal that the dashboard doesn't join rightfully to the floor and inner cab sides ( I don't know if you see what I mean. Look to the fourth pic)
le_marbrier Posted February 20, 2013 Author Posted February 20, 2013 (edited) Hi, everybody, long time, no see. Here some new pics of my Transtar (almost finished, but my apologies, from the box, I'm not of the skilllevel of the modellers on this site) Edited February 20, 2013 by le_marbrier
