cruz Posted September 3, 2007 Author Posted September 3, 2007 Great looking build in a great GM color. BTW what wheels ARE you using on this puppy????? I am going old school and using the MRC tires and cragar rims.............
cruz Posted September 3, 2007 Author Posted September 3, 2007 Here is a bit more progress on my 57' Chevy with the BMF in place.......
cruz Posted September 3, 2007 Author Posted September 3, 2007 I noticed that the side trim in the detail set was very short to use on this model so I had to paint it with Aluminum using the Testors metalizers and giving it a buffing to simulate the ones in the 1/1 car, I really wish MCG can fix this, it is pretty noticesable and something they should address.........
Marc @ MPC Motorsports Posted September 3, 2007 Posted September 3, 2007 I noticed that the side trim in the detail set was very short to use on this model so I had to paint it with Aluminum using the Testors metalizers and giving it a buffing to simulate the ones in the 1/1 car, I really wish MCG can fix this, it is pretty noticesable and something they should address......... This is really turning into a beautiful ride, Marcos. The problem with your photoetch side trim is MCG designed it for the "original" old tool AMT 1957 Chevy, not the one you are building. The newer issue is closer to 1:24 scale than 1:25. MCG should consider making a version for the newer release.
cruz Posted September 3, 2007 Author Posted September 3, 2007 Hey brother, thanks for clearing that out for me, I really wanted to use this piece because of how nicely engineered it is but I think that at the end the metalizer technique I used will look pretty convincing...........
MrObsessive Posted September 4, 2007 Posted September 4, 2007 (edited) Hey Cruz, if you can find one, ERTL did make a "Pro Shop" series that had the PE included in the kit. Unfortunately, it was only offered in one run and wasn't reissued------but it did have the fin trim you're trying to use. I have both kits with/without the PE, but I want to build the PE one.......................someday! Edited September 4, 2007 by MrObsessive

I am pretty happy the way it turned out anyway, had a chance to work with it after the meeting so I should be able to finish it sometime this week God permitting.............
bestfreshman Posted September 4, 2007 Posted September 4, 2007 Buen trabajo Marcos. Excellent job my friend. I like the details you take in consideration when building.
Peter Lombardo Posted September 4, 2007 Posted September 4, 2007 Great paint, smooth as a baby's bottom. I wish I had the patience to get my paint that smooth. I am always in a rush to finish, (Yes, it is a personal problem)

cruz Posted September 8, 2007 Author Posted September 8, 2007 Well my peeps, I am in the last stages of finishing this thing at last. Just need the little details now including the front and back bumpers. I love these MRC tires and rims, very realistic looking.............
cruz Posted September 8, 2007 Author Posted September 8, 2007 Originally I wanted this car a little lower but then after a little thinking I decided to go like this, kinda reminds me of the times I spent at the drag strip in the 70's and watching these cars running..........
cruz Posted September 8, 2007 Author Posted September 8, 2007 A few more small details in the engine bay and I am done...........
