Dirty Gringo Posted June 7, 2012 Posted June 7, 2012 After seeing everyone else building these I thought I would "start" one probably never finish like everything else but what the heck. Was going to try make like a 60s custom but not sure what I will do yet. cut everything open and shaved all trim, slight chop suicide doors and molded part of hood in
Dirty Gringo Posted June 7, 2012 Author Posted June 7, 2012 Thought about adding rear fender wells from a 58 impala but not sure where I will go with it yet
bryan_m Posted June 7, 2012 Posted June 7, 2012 great start! i like how you "pancaked" the hood, ive done that on a couple mercs, gives it a more modern look. keep it goin cheers bryan
Badluck 13 Posted June 7, 2012 Posted June 7, 2012 There is always room for another '56,love what ya did with the hood.....
Dirty Gringo Posted June 7, 2012 Author Posted June 7, 2012 Roughing in the new wheel wells from the 58 impala

1930fordpickup Posted June 8, 2012 Posted June 8, 2012 Looks good so far . You are not alone in the fizzle out club . I am a charter member .
Dirty Gringo Posted June 8, 2012 Author Posted June 8, 2012 (edited) Ok so there is a rough idea where might be going with this. Also need some input on should I just fill in the whole gap between hood and grill or leave it kinda open? Guessing will end up filling it all in but wanted some input Edited June 8, 2012 by Dirty Gringo
slammedi'am Posted June 9, 2012 Posted June 9, 2012 Fill it...Wished I had done mine after I already had the hood sprayed
Dirty Gringo Posted June 9, 2012 Author Posted June 9, 2012 oh another small update kinda started a little interior parts making new door panels and taking custom dash from 58 impala and making it fit in there
Joker Posted June 9, 2012 Posted June 9, 2012 I would fill in the gap..the new opening is the pancake .. not filling in the gap would take away from the grill opening. Just my two cents..and pls don't put it on the back burner. James aka Joker oh..blushing ..I didn't know I could inspire...LOL
Dirty Gringo Posted June 9, 2012 Author Posted June 9, 2012 Few more updates started interior be kind its first attempt at using styrene but looks alright I hope. Also went ahead and shaved hood ornament and started filling in the gap also going to use the all chrome motor I found in a t bird kit that might change but for now its whats the power plant will be
W-409 Posted June 9, 2012 Posted June 9, 2012 This is coming along nicely, you do some great work! I like the body modifications, rear fenders from Impala look good and like the front end also. Good job, keep it going. And to answer your question, yes, I would fill it.
