71 duster glue bomb

Recommended Posts

Get yourself some LA's Totally Awesome cleaner ($3 for a half gallon jug at any Dollar General store),a covered container that the model will fit in easily, remove all of the chrome parts that you want to salvage, then put the entire model in the container with the LA's Totally Awesome and let it soak for at least a day. That will remove all of the paint and it will be almost as clean as new unless it's been painted with Model Masters laquer. In that case, you will need 91% alcohol. The longer you let your model soak in the LA's Totally Awesome, the easier it will be to get it apart. If you're not in a big hurry, let it soak for a week and it will work better on the glue joints. Here's a photo of a model I stripped using the LA's Totally Awesome. The majority of these parts were painted black.

Soak the model with water. Seal in a plastic baggy. Put it in the freezer for a couple of days. Freezing should allow you to pop glued parts apart without damage. After you get it apart, follow Roger's steps.

I was wondering if you are just talking about getting the model wet for a couple minutes or freeze in the bowl with water in it?
