Nice, I can't wait for this one. Last years race was a nail biter down to the flag, so I'm hoping this one will be as well. For some reason i found myself rooting so hard against the Peugot team last yr and wanting Audi to win.

Posted

I know it was a little early with doing the thread, but I am excited, I have no idea what team/car I want to win, dont think I care, I hope its a good one like last year.

Posted

Yeah i usually don't have a rooting interest but something just made me dislike them last year lol. Should be a good one again i'm sure.

Thanks for the links Jonathan. I'm really looking forward to this one. I'm so over the Deltawing deal and all the hype with it. Too radical for me. I AM excited though to see the Toyota. I really like that car and it's ideas and theory. Plus the vids i've seen of it are awesome with the sound, and it's quite competitive timewise !! My son and I are doing another Lemans modelpalooza with friends. I'm building the Toyota Toms 88C that I had picked out for the Gr. C build we had talked about. And my son is building the Nissan R89C !! And yes, i'm cheating a bit with it, i'm getting the paintwork done prior to the race !! As before, the 2 and 3 color schemes of these cars are a hindrence to start to finish building of these. Much more fun to just apply decals while your fresh and just assemble and detail the thing. I'l post a link to the builds when finished.

Looking forward to it...last weekend was busy w/ F1, IndyCar, Rolex Grand Am and NASCAR to watch...looks like this will be a busy weekend also.

Sorry for the crappy way I did the driver/car list, I was able to copy and paste the entire list, but the forum would not post it, to many images, I was not about to try and remove all the driver flags.

I am not to found of NIssan's Delta wing project either, but I have not really read a lot on it.

Don't forget to watch qualifying tomorrow and Thursday. on the net. TImes are 1-3 PM and 4-6 PM Eastern Standard Time in the USA both days. SPEED has a show on Friday night at 10:00 PM about the TS030 Toyota Hybrid and it's develepmont. I feel sorry for the racing fans that don't get this race or understand how important it is to the world's car makers. Sorry NASCAR fans but the DAYTONA 500 is not the greatest or most important race on the planet.

I agree, I dont think a lot of people know what the 24 hour of le mans is really about, its where the manufactures test new technology, and that technology they test sometimes ends up in the road cars. The 24 hour race is a manufactures race more then it is a drivers race.

A few weeks ago, Speed was airing the road to le mans for audi

The 500 is in the top three ;)

Yeah, kind of sucks no Peugeot Audi mega battle, but Toyota has been running respectable times. #8 Toyota however caught fire in Free Practice. Q1 is tonight in France, later this afternoon today.

Now, Audi has expressed some concerns about reliablity of there R18s and are running new technology on 2 of their 4 cars so there is a bit of a unknown in the Audi camp.

Also there is a chance of rain both Sat and Sun, which may change everything. In dry running the E-Quattro is very strong but they say it may have trouble in the rain vs. the Ultras and Toyotas.

Hard to say what is going to happen. If we knew we wouldn't have to run the race at all.

LMP2 and the GT classes are very very close and might prove to have the closest racing.

This is going to be boring.

+1 maybe for you.

There is a good chance of rain which tosses everything out the window.

The Toyos have a 2+ lap fuel advantage.

Peugeot only had 1 lap and they didn't always take it.... it was a 13 second margine at the end of 24.

And the other classes are very competitive.

The Toyotas have had historically bad reliablity, but Audi also expressed concerns about their own reliablity. These are basically new cars for this year, not last years cars at all.

And it's the first time since the TDI have shown up that a Gasoline powered car has even come close to Audis pace.

It could be an Audi blowout but I wouldn't bet money on that.

Cal, thanks bud for updating this thread, havent had time to keep with everything this week, looks like its going to be a battle of the hybirds , that in itself should be interesting.

Whats the range the hybirds can go?,
