Nick Winter Posted June 13, 2012 Posted June 13, 2012 Decided it was time for me to try this again after a few years. So I chose a kit that I had Zero interest in building any other way. So I grabbed the flyer for the Group 25 show to see if anything popped in my head, that's when I spotted the Out of Box Class, so that's the plan, Going to do it close to factory stock, Bright Red on Saddle. My Progress so far, started last night, Painted the motor with a bit of left over Duplicolor engine enamel from when I repainted my valve covers and intake on my truck. Painted the transmission and started getting the body ready for paint. Nick
Tony T Posted June 14, 2012 Posted June 14, 2012 Good start Nick! (Get a box of those blue nytril gloves (about $10 for 100 at Home Hardware) for paint and keep it off your hands...might get in the pores of your skin and cause health problems...plus it makes clean up easier! I gotta say I wish I started doing that earlier on! Keep healthy!)
Nick Winter Posted June 14, 2012 Author Posted June 14, 2012 Thanks Guys, Actually Tony, I usually do use them, just so happened that I used my last one the day before, have to pick up another box. Nick
Nick Winter Posted June 17, 2012 Author Posted June 17, 2012 Bit more progress, still need to touch up a bit of red & Black. Nick
Matt P Posted June 18, 2012 Posted June 18, 2012 Wow Nick, your skills are getting better and better all the time. The red came out great, keep it up.
Duntov Posted June 18, 2012 Posted June 18, 2012 Nice!!! As an owner of several C4 1:1 cars I can honestly say you are spot on here!!! Regards Bill (Duntov)
Nick Winter Posted June 20, 2012 Author Posted June 20, 2012 Thanks Guys, Bill I had a look at few online and was lucky enough to have one pull into the gas station I was at when I was filling up my truck. More progress. Darkened the panel lines, finished the black and emblems and finished the up top.
Tony T Posted June 20, 2012 Posted June 20, 2012 Glad you do use the gloves, Nick! Cheap insurance! Nice build, I'm really liking it! The paint looks great!
Scuderia Posted June 20, 2012 Posted June 20, 2012 I never gave those amt vettes much thought, but yours is slick. Nice on the emblems too, i like this.
TooOld Posted June 20, 2012 Posted June 20, 2012 Nick , That body is turning out great ! I'm impressed by the nose and rear deck emblems . Not even going to ask how you did it , because I know the answer . . . a toothpick and a lot of patience .
kelson Posted June 20, 2012 Posted June 20, 2012 A very impressive build, you can't go wrong with a red corvette.
Nick Winter Posted June 30, 2012 Author Posted June 30, 2012 (edited) Thanks Guys, Yes it's a bit Cliche to build a Red Corvette, but I knew that it will be my only red Corvette and probably one of very few OOB builds. Anyway, here I am. I'm going away for the weekend and will be taking this one and my '78 Firebird Trans Am with me to work on. the Chassis plate isn't correct but I did my best with what I had for reference. Nick Edit: I left those sink marks on purpose on the interior, the seats cover the rear two and the dash covers the front two. Edited June 30, 2012 by Nick Winter
