johnwitzke Posted June 20, 2012 Posted June 20, 2012 (edited) My collection of 1/24 scale Ferrari 250 GTO's is growing. Got a note from Island Collectibles yesterday letting me know that my Model Factory Hiro Ferrari 250 GTO is on the way. I ordered MFH "F" version which is the car the Mike Parks raced and finished second in class and overall during the 1963 Tourist Trophy at Goodwood. This car, ser # 3729, RHD, was the only white 250 GTO produced at the factory. I will do a comparison of the body lines between the MFH kit and the Fujimi kit. On a side note, I ordered paint from MCW for my 250 GTO ser # 3987 driven by Roger Penske & Augie Pabst at the 12 hrs Sebring. Research shows that the Mecom racing team colors was Pelham Blue, a GM color from '59. Edited June 20, 2012 by johnwitzke
250 Testa Rossa Posted June 20, 2012 Posted June 20, 2012 I think I forgot to note this, but the original body of my MFH 250 GTO "A" version was destroyed in an accident, so I contacted MFH directly for a new body. Six months later, they sent me a body intended for an "F" version 250 GTO kit. The new body is being heavily modified to resemble the version "A" body. I'll post a picture after it's done.
johnwitzke Posted July 16, 2012 Author Posted July 16, 2012 Here are a couple of photos of my MFH 250 GTO chassis # 3729 that was driven by Mike Parks during the 1963 Tourist Trophy. This is an extremely nice kit and very well detailed. I have included a photo of the Fujimi and MFH version together.
Ace-Garageguy Posted July 16, 2012 Posted July 16, 2012 Looking forward to watching this progress......
johnwitzke Posted July 17, 2012 Author Posted July 17, 2012 (edited) I am really excited about this kit. However, like the Fujimi kit, this one will probably take some additional time as I do not rush my builds. Edited July 17, 2012 by johnwitzke
