Jantrix Posted June 24, 2012 Posted June 24, 2012 Has anyone taken the Revellogram '39 Chevys and built them factory stoock or maybe a traditional hot rod? If so what parts were used? I figure the I-6 from the Revell '53 Chev would be useful, but what about the interior? Anyone do a resin conversion?
jeffs396 Posted June 25, 2012 Posted June 25, 2012 It looks like you're going to be the pioneer in this project Rob! I'd like to see more '39s myself, especially the sedan delivery
Ace-Garageguy Posted June 25, 2012 Posted June 25, 2012 (edited) Though it's 1/25, the AMT '37 Chevy might offer a starting place for an interior. Also, the '37 and '38 frames were interchangeable, but there were some differences on the '39. The design of the frame rail cross-section was the same "top-hat" style, but I think the rear of the '39 rails behind the axle hump were at a different angle. So the AMT '37 frame may offer some advantages as well. The rails on the RM version are awfully skinny. The RM suspension is actually fairly accurate, unless you're doing a Master Deluxe, which had independent front "knee action" suspension. If you want to do a Master Deluxe, the front suspension from the Galaxie '48 Chevy would give a good approximation. That kit, also 1/25, has some good period speed parts for the old stovebolt six. Jantrix Posted June 26, 2012 Author Posted June 26, 2012 Thanks guys. I've been thinking about this for a while, but its awfully far down my build list.
carrucha Posted July 1, 2012 Posted July 1, 2012 If you are thinking of building a stock '39 coupe then you need to take the stock hood and hood ornament from the sedan delivery kit. The AMT '37 Chevy kit would be a good source for the engine, seats, hubcaps and wheels.
