I have never, ever, in almost 50 years of building, gave a final wax to a paint job. I'm real close to finishing my CHP Dodge, which will require decals, and am wondering if I should wax the thing.

I used Valspar laquer black/white/clear, polished it out, but think I need something else. Wax or any other suggestions ?

Well the only other thing out there would be wax, I say go for it, I have not wax a model, I did buy wax to use on them, just have not done it yet

I tried wax on my last build a 71 duster - it was gloss yellow already and pretty shiney - the wax did help bring the shine out even more. give it a shot -

Looks like the concensus is wax that sucker!

Andy is that Meguiar's polishing compound the mysterious #7 I keep hearing about?

I have heard wax will screw with decal adhesion, I seriously doubt that, any thoughts gentlemen?

I forgot you mentioned decals still needed to be applied. I must say that I know nothing about decals over wax, or wax over decals. My decals are usually under the clear coat. Someone will be able to steer you right. Good luck!

Get those decals in place before adding wax, after they are thoroughly dry you can wax over the decals!
