I wish my disability check would come so I can get an air compressor for my airbrush. I know I will catch flack from some of you for where I'm going to buy it (harbor freight) for the rest of ya here is a question. I already have a badger airbrush which I love but I was wondering H.F. Sells just the compressor or for an extra $20 you can get the kit with an airbrush included. I think it would be handy to have an extra A.B. But I worry that is no good. Anybody used that airbrush? How is it working out for you?

For the price, the HF double action airbrushes are a suprisingly well made and performing peice. I find myself using it as often as my Paasche V.

I've been using both thier compressor and airbrush for about four years now. Thier airbrush is a cheapy around $17.00. But it's great for overall paintjobs. You do have to go mail order for replacement parts and different needles. Make sure you take the discount coupon with you. The 3 gallon pancake is thier best cheap compressor. The airbrush is sold seperate from the compressor. Oh yeah, whatever you do don't get thier plastic airbrush. It isn't worth a fart in a cyclone!

LMAO, he said "fart in a cyclone".

For the mony I would buy this air compressor http://www.harborfreight.com/1-3-hp-3-gallon-100-psi-oilless-air-compressor-97080.html

Or go to A menards and get this one http://www.menards.com/main/tools-hardware/power-tools/air-compressors-pneumatic-tools-accessories/2-gallon-air-compressor/p-1442765-c-9076.htm

This one i am using right now and love it. They both come with a regulator so that saves some money as well

Are there any adaptors available that'll fit the little tiny airbrush hoses (1/8", I think) to the 1/4" air compressors? I've gone to everything from big chains to real hardware stores, and I get the same blank stare.

Anyone?

My hoses accept the standard quik connects for air hoses. i have a Iawata , badger, and paasche airbrushes and they all accepted the chucks. All of mine did come with the braided hoses though.Last time I checked Hobby Lobby had the ones for a paasche and the Iawata for around $15

You need to find brass pipe fittings made by Weatherhead to go from 1/8 NPT to 1/4 NPT . Do a search or try McMaster Carr or Amazon Hose . Also , anyplace that makes hoses in your area should have them .

Actually harbor freight sells two plastic air brushes. one is a piece of junk and its a rip-off of the badger 350, stay away from that one - they sell another plastic one called the Central Pnuematic Quick Change Airbrush, which is actually very good - it's a lot like the Badger 250. its a bit heavy on the spray so you have to turn down your PSI, but its a good airbrush. I think i paid 5 bucks for the whole set-up. It looks more like the testors aztek AB than a regular airbrush. Also the plastic jars it comes with will have to be replaced by glass ones evenyually, unless your spraying with acrylics.

The 1 gallon pancake Compressor i had sucked, i had two and they both leaked. I then bought their mini air compressor 1/5 HP,. I fitted it with a good regulator and it comes with a metal double air brush in the kit. Great set-up!

Charlie, the hobby stores should have what you're looking for. It's an adapter from 1/8th to 1/4 pipe thread where the 1/8th is male and the 1/4 is female fittings. Hobby Lobby or Michaels should also have them. :) Dan

I have two HF compressors. One is the "airbrush" compressor. Puts out a steady 22 psi thru the watertrap...Cost 69.00...6 years ago. 1/2 hp 1 gal tank...up to 75 psi..I shoot higher psi jobs with this one...Auto Air water based paints (50 psi) Yost enamels...32psi. cost 2 years ago..79.00

both do the job, not too much noise, never any issues, inline water trap on the tank model, it gets drained every use Use your local store.
