cobraman Posted July 13, 2012 Author Posted July 13, 2012 (edited) Ok. Got a little more done on the Impala. The body is now cleared but will still need to be polished and BMF applied. On the interior I used a straight pin with a round head for the shifter and I made a suicide knob for the steering wheel. I am now working on making a straight axel set up to complete the "gasser" look. Comments ? Let me have it, I can take it. Edited July 13, 2012 by cobraman
TooOld Posted July 13, 2012 Posted July 13, 2012 Looking really good ! I've never built this kit but now it is on my "Buy" list . Are the wheels and tires in this kit ? And the wide whites ? They look great ! I always Dull-Cote the sidewalls of my tires , especially the whitewalls ( they are to shiney otherwise ) . A couple really light coats is all it takes , and I've never had any reaction with the decals .
cobraman Posted July 13, 2012 Author Posted July 13, 2012 Thanks. Yes, the tires and wheels are in this kit. The whitewalls are decals and I did spray them with 2 coats of Dullcoat. They do still look a little shiny however.

Erik Smith Posted July 14, 2012 Posted July 14, 2012 Looking very cool. This is, IMHO, one of the best model kits ever. I like the green color and the engine detailing. Nice.
cobraman Posted July 14, 2012 Author Posted July 14, 2012 Thank you guys. You all make me want to be a better builder.

cobraman Posted July 14, 2012 Author Posted July 14, 2012 Ok. Car still has a ways to go but I couldn't resist slapping it together for a couple of mock up photos.
cobraman Posted July 15, 2012 Author Posted July 15, 2012 The car has now been polished and foiled. This is a mock up with those chores done. Couple more hours or so and she should be finished.
baloney Posted July 15, 2012 Posted July 15, 2012 wow !! i like it very interesting build. i never thought of doing a car like this.. i did not read all the post, but why you don't have whitewalls on the front?

Hey Greg. As far as the whitewalls on the front I simply prefer them to be blackwalls. It was not uncommon for "gassers" of the time to have whitewalls on one end but not the other.
cobraman Posted July 17, 2012 Author Posted July 17, 2012 This build is finished. Here is one photo. More will be in the Under Glass section if interested.
Jantrix Posted July 17, 2012 Posted July 17, 2012 Really nice work. I love the color and the attitude.
