JasonFL Posted July 29, 2012 Posted July 29, 2012 I saw this article the other day and it reminded me of your build. I like where yours is going, I think your paint is a whole lot better then how they went about it. Build looks great, can't wait to see how you finish it up. http://www.autoblog.com/2012/07/24/ford-unveils-red-tails-edition-mustang-gt-w-video/
Hippie Posted August 1, 2012 Author Posted August 1, 2012 Thanks guys for all the comments, I've almost finished but not easily, I'm gusing it's because of my modifications but this kit is starting to suck, none of the glass fits and the body and the chassis don't fit together, even without my custom parts in place it's not working too well, If any ones built this kit and had the same problems could you possibly tell me, just a little reassurance that its not my fault............... Anyway, I've painted the body, it took a lot of thin coats (26, no clue why i counted......) then using then gunk that settles at the bottom of the cup that you wash out paint brushes in, i smeared it all over the paint, then air brushed some more light coats, unfortunately it didn't turn out that great, You can really see it but i masked out a shark face, also some numbers, sorry but today the model is photogenic..... Here's my best shot showing the paint, still isn't close to real life, but better then above.. And lastly, because i can't figure out the glass, i filled in the areas i had cut out for it with some welds, pulling the interior and the body shell together...... Well its almost done, need to add some mirrors and some mesh in the back then I'll be it will be under glass Thanks for watching everyone...
Jantrix Posted August 2, 2012 Posted August 2, 2012 Can I make a recommendation? Since the first hot rodder painted his car flat black and the wheels red, wheels have been used to bring some contrast to any car. A break in the color of the car, whether it's chrome hubcaps, painted steelies or aluminum mags. I think this is needed here with this build. I know the wheels are a different shade, but not enough in my opinion. Just my $.02. Keep it going, I really like this build.
Tony T Posted August 2, 2012 Posted August 2, 2012 Coming along great! Love the interior...nice job!! The paint looks good in pictures...nice touches with the steering controls!
Hippie Posted August 2, 2012 Author Posted August 2, 2012 thanks guys jantrix Your a genius........ Thanks for looking.....
Jantrix Posted August 2, 2012 Posted August 2, 2012 jantrix Your a genius........ Well ...... yeah. It's about time someone noticed, thanks. Now throw a dark wash on those to match the patina on the body and you'll be set.
RodneyBad Posted August 2, 2012 Posted August 2, 2012 Not what I was expecting. Why beyond it. Looks Killer.. Great work soo far, keep it up..
cjstranick Posted September 15, 2012 Posted September 15, 2012 I like the red wheels better. The wheels don't look so sucked in then. And it's not just a japanese style, it is prevalent in Euro scene as well, trust me I see enough of the aired out/stanced euros. I love this build by the way. I really like the faint sharks mouth thing going on the sides.
blackandwhite Posted September 15, 2012 Posted September 15, 2012 awesome build so far, I really like the interior and what you did with it. The red is a little bright for me, maybe dull it down some, just seems to pop a little TOO much. great job none the less
Foxer Posted October 2, 2012 Posted October 2, 2012 This is all done so well! I like every little detail you've done and the finish is just right.
