Ira Posted July 11, 2012 Posted July 11, 2012 (edited) MUD BUG!!! A Muddy New Project! I am modifying Revells Killer Bee to look more like a Deals Wheels "Hum Bug" Off-Road VW Buggy. The Hum Bug Kits are pretty hard to find, so I thought I might make my own VW Buggy. I will be trying some Extreme Weathering on the Mud Bug, any suggestions welcome! Most of the parts for the Mud Bug Project come from Revells Killer Bee & Porsche 911 Kits. Tires and other odd parts will be coming from the Deals Wheels Van Kit. Let's Get Started... Dr. Cranky Posted July 12, 2012 Posted July 12, 2012 Bring them on, can't wait to see this Mud Bug come into its own.
Ira Posted July 12, 2012 Author Posted July 12, 2012 BODY MODS For MUD BUG!!! Before I started taking photos, I shortened the body about 1.5 inches: .5 inches from the doors, .5 inches from behind the doors and another .5 inches from the hood area... Here is what the Mud Bug looks like next to a stock VW...
Ira Posted July 12, 2012 Author Posted July 12, 2012 MOVING FENDERS... I cut off the front fenders so I could shorten the sides .5 inches. Then I glued them back on about .5 inches back... Next I cut out the excess plastic, in front of the Front Fenders.
Art Laski Posted July 12, 2012 Posted July 12, 2012 Your skills with these types of builds is incredible, Ira!
Ira Posted July 12, 2012 Author Posted July 12, 2012 (edited) TOP FITTING.... You can see in this photo that there is an .5 inch wide section of the roof that does not fit well. I didn't glue this section in yet... I cut the section out and carved it a little to make it fit nice and tight! I also carved the side windows out a bit... Edited July 12, 2012 by Ira
