Ira Posted November 9, 2012 Author Posted November 9, 2012 (edited) MUD TIME!!! I made a holder with a Coat Hanger. I bent the Hanger to the width of the axles then cut off the wire ends. The ends slip into the axles and I used masking tape on the ends so the body wouldn't slide off... I used 5 cans of spray paint for the Mud. 3 cans of Flat Brown in different shades, Dullcote & Testors Clear Gloss. I started with the Dullcote and sprayed a mist coat over the whole body, to look like spots of Mud & Muddy Water. Then I sprayed the Light Brown from underneath to replicate the Mud coming from the Tires. Next I used the Medium Brown and sprayed from the bottom again, but a little heavier this time. Brown was the final color and it was sprayed into the wheel wells and then lightly on the body. A mist of Testors Clear Gloss was sprayed over the whole body, to look like Wet Muddy Water. I made the axles from Plastic tubing with Piano Wire inside. Cool Willy tried to drive the Mud Bug off the table, so I glued the wheels in place, no more rolling off the cliff! More MUD Coming...
