Haubenschild Posted July 16, 2012 Posted July 16, 2012 (edited) This was filling up at a gas station in the Norweigan countryside. I was kinda skeptical when the owner said it was painted in its original colour , so I snapped a picture of the VIN sorry about the photo size , these were taken with an Iphone 4s and here is the fender tag Edited July 24, 2012 by Haubenschild
george 53 Posted July 16, 2012 Posted July 16, 2012 I've NEVER heard of a Charger 500 R/T. It was either a 500, or an R/T but I've NEVER seen or even heard of one. It should have a tiny 500 on the trunklid too, but I don't see one there. Not sayin it's NOT real, but they must REALLY be rare cause I couldn't find a 500 R/T on google either.
Haubenschild Posted July 16, 2012 Author Posted July 16, 2012 (edited) Well , I am pretty sure the R/T stripe on the side was put on either before or after the guy bought it , there are also a few other missing pieces. If XS23 was on the fender tag it would be an R/T Edited July 24, 2012 by Haubenschild
lrlocke01 Posted July 16, 2012 Posted July 16, 2012 I thought the Charger 500 had a smooth back window and not set in
Haubenschild Posted July 16, 2012 Author Posted July 16, 2012 The rear window was smooth in 1969? I believe.
Casey Posted July 16, 2012 Posted July 16, 2012 The Charger 500 in '70 was an option IIRC, not a separate "special" model as in '69. How's Europe goin', Bubbles?
Haubenschild Posted July 16, 2012 Author Posted July 16, 2012 Well , I got back yesterday . It was pretty neat though , I actually saw quite a few nice cars ( 63-67 vette convertible , Lexus LFA , and a Pontiac Executive )
george 53 Posted July 16, 2012 Posted July 16, 2012 Well to be honest with ya, I'd say it WAS a fake! Those are SHEETMETAL screws holding down the vin plate. NOT the proper VIN rivets, so other than it being a VERY pretty car, it coulda been ANY ol 70 Charger model. But it sure is pretty!!!
1972coronet Posted July 18, 2012 Posted July 18, 2012 That's not the V.I.N. (although the V.I.N. is included herein ) , but rather the "Fender Tag" . "XP" = Charger S.E. , and it's even equipped (originally at least) with the top engine option for the S.E. : the 330 hp 383 Magnum ( which should be Chrysler Blue by the way , not Orange ) . The "FC7" = Plum Crazy Purple ; it also originally had a black vinyl top ( V1X ) and a factory AM-FM radio ( R22 ) , which is useless overseas . Neat-o rig never-the-less , especially in your area !
KevinMoparFord Posted July 18, 2012 Posted July 18, 2012 The fender tag screws are correct, only the VIN tag on the dash is riveted on with special rivets. Color is correct. It only has the R/T stripe, other R/T parts like the side scoops are missing. Cool car and original purple is cool. Charger 500 for 1970 was not much more than a trim option, fancier door panels, some badges, no special rear window or collectability.
gtx6970 Posted July 24, 2012 Posted July 24, 2012 Tag says it's a 1970 Charger ( non R/T ) 383 car console auto , and yes it is an original plum crazy purple car
