TooOld Posted July 23, 2012 Posted July 23, 2012 I bet you lost interest while working on the engine , right ? Happens to me every time I build one of these , just something about the way it goes together bugs me . Anyway , yours turned out just fine . The pipes and bumper and everything are all straight and square , that's the hard part . I really like the color and the top ! You've got to finish it !
1930fordpickup Posted July 23, 2012 Posted July 23, 2012 This is looking good ! Just drove by a 1:1 for sale today in Michigan . Had to go back for a look.
rmvw guy Posted July 23, 2012 Posted July 23, 2012 That engine looks good! I started one of these about four weeks ago and stopped about halfway through the engine also. What is it about this kit? It does have some great parts.
cobraman Posted July 23, 2012 Author Posted July 23, 2012 Bob, you are 100 % right ! Interest took a dive when I was working on the engine. I chalked it up to my old eye and my fat fingers. I will finish it !
rmvw guy Posted July 23, 2012 Posted July 23, 2012 Ron, are you going to finish yours ? Yeah Ray, hope to have it ready for our next club meet 1st Thursday of the month. I do this all the time, get side-tracked on another build. I have it painted all but the interior. I think it's the engine wireing that always holds me up. I try to get them better every time, still working on it. It should be easy with a 4 cylinder you would think.
cobraman Posted July 23, 2012 Author Posted July 23, 2012 Thanks guys. I plan (hope) to finish it maybe this weekend.
VW Dave Posted July 24, 2012 Posted July 24, 2012 I've got 3 in the works right now, including one I'll be raffling off for charity. I like the progress on this one so far, and I really like the top
cobraman Posted July 24, 2012 Author Posted July 24, 2012 Thanks. I am beginning to hate this kit. I am going to finish it but I would never build another. Not sure why I am having such a hard time with this thing. Not the type of kit I would normally build but that is why I chose it, I wanted to build something different. My bad.
TooOld Posted July 24, 2012 Posted July 24, 2012 It's a neat kit of a cool little car back in it's day . Unfortunately none of the parts in the kit actually fit to each other , they just sort of go here or there . Very easy to get bored with it unless you know exactly what you want to build and can do it quickly ! ! I've started three of them and have only finished one . I doubt I will ever touch the other two again !
cobraman Posted July 24, 2012 Author Posted July 24, 2012 Bob, is there any pics of your finished one floating around here ? I would love to see it.
TooOld Posted July 24, 2012 Posted July 24, 2012 Ray , I don't know how to post a link to it , but it was under glass on 5 April 2012 , and some in progress pictures are in the Meyers Manx thread under Kit Reviews .
cobraman Posted July 27, 2012 Author Posted July 27, 2012 I should wrap up this puppy this weekend sometime. I will be glad to have it done. Can't really put my finger on why this build went from a fun thing to a chore. No major problems but still did not enjoy it all that much. Maybe because it's not what I normally build. Anyway, body has been cleared and most of the parts that still need to be attached are painted and ready to go.
TooOld Posted July 27, 2012 Posted July 27, 2012 It looks like you are getting close . Don't give up now !
cobraman Posted July 27, 2012 Author Posted July 27, 2012 Buggy is finished ! Photos will be posted in the under glass section if interested. I will never build another on of these again.
rmvw guy Posted July 27, 2012 Posted July 27, 2012 (edited) Too funny!!!! At least you got your's finished, mine is still sitting here. Edited July 28, 2012 by rmvw guy
