Monty Posted July 18, 2012 Posted July 18, 2012 It appears lighter than Tamiya Light Gunmetal and darker than the various silver-ish paints available from Testors. Is there a hobby enamel or lacquer that matches this? Obviously this isn't a requirement, but If you can provide a picture of something sprayed with the paint you recommend, I'd appreciate it.
Chief Joseph Posted July 19, 2012 Posted July 19, 2012 A quick look at a paint database says that color is M6091 Medium Gray... is there a reason you don't want an automotive-type paint that would match it almost perfectly?
Mike Kucaba Posted July 19, 2012 Posted July 19, 2012 Probably the cost? Unless that is available in some small quantity like a touch-up bottle it's not going to be cheap. Heck even hobby paints are getting relatively expensive.

Jantrix Posted July 19, 2012 Posted July 19, 2012 I think you could probably get that same color or darn close through Duplicolor. Check the paint at your local Pep Boys (they seem to keep the best selection). The can will $7-8 but you'll get more than one model out of it. It's real auto lacquer so make sure you prime completely with a good primer to protect the plastic.
jaymcminn Posted July 19, 2012 Posted July 19, 2012 That looks pretty close to Tamiya Light Gunmetal to me- I'm painting a Ferrari 328 in that color now. I'll snap a pic when I get time.
vintagestang Posted July 19, 2012 Posted July 19, 2012 Automotivetouchup.com probably has that color. 1/2 oz. bottle for $10.00 and clear for $5.00. and they have spray cans.
