rmvw guy Posted July 22, 2012 Posted July 22, 2012 I know I've seen this topic on here before but, where? I just dropped my '32 on the floor and broke the top off now I want to make it look welded on with weathering on the welds. Any help will be appreciated, thanks.
Sixx Posted July 22, 2012 Posted July 22, 2012 Archer makes some transfers that are like decals but are raised...check em out. They do a ton of dry-transfers for military models, weld beads are just one type
Foxer Posted July 22, 2012 Posted July 22, 2012 (edited) There have been a number of threads here on this subject. This is one: http://www.modelcars...showtopic=43856 Also use Google to search ... much better than the resident search engine. Paste this into Google: site:modelcarsmag.com welds I like using the Archer weld decals that Derrick recommended . .very easy to use. This is a dragster I used them on to weld the doors: Edited July 22, 2012 by Foxer
rmvw guy Posted July 22, 2012 Author Posted July 22, 2012 (edited) Thanks Derrick and Mike, good info. I got a little excited when I knocked my model off the bench and didn't search too hard before posting this. There are several posts here under tips and tutorials I missed. The link is just what I was looking for and I like your photo Mike! Thanks again. Edited July 22, 2012 by rmvw guy
W-409 Posted July 23, 2012 Posted July 23, 2012 I used very thin plastic "tubing", softened it a bit with Plastruct's Plastic Weld-Liquid Glue. Then I pushed several "marks" for it with screw driver. ' Actually they look better in person.
rmvw guy Posted July 24, 2012 Author Posted July 24, 2012 (edited) This is what I came up with. I used 5- minute epoxy and made marks on it with round alumunum tube in a dremel tool. I wanted rough welds like I would make. I'm happy with the result. Thank you Niko, I like your picture and another big THANK YOU to all of you. Edited July 24, 2012 by rmvw guy
