Hi Paul,

I wouldn't get your hopes up for now because Italeri has fooled us before.

We were promised a Freightliner towtruck a couple of years ago and it ended up as the Ford LTL with the everlasting BRO wrecker.

For now I'm afraid it's gonna be the Pete 377 with the same BRO......time will tell :D

Regards,

Arjan

I hope they really mess up and make it the 378 instead of the 377.

BUT.. my prediction is that the LAFD recovery truck will be the good 'ol 377 kit with some extra parts added to "freshen" it including a battery box cover, smaller fuel tank with step, bumper with molded in lights, a rear daycab wall and the wrecker parts, and of course LAFD logos.

We shall see !

To be proper, the kit would have to be updated to a 385 with the more pronounced sloped hood, new grille and bumper.

We discussed this back in February when it was announced at the German toy and hobby trade show on the Yahoo Dutch model truck forum. Some speculated that is was a rehashed Italeri 377 with the Revell Century wrecker body. Italeri also announced a Euro dump trailer and the Iveco Stralis. Release dates will probably be early 2008.

This is a Los Angeles County wrecker. Looks like a 377 to me, what do you think Tim?

THAT one is a 377. And a snazzy one at that!

Italeri would need a battery box cover, fuel tank and step, daycab panel, bumper, air cleaners, lights, etc.

Italeri totally screwed this kit up. The new box shows a Western Star Constellation with the old Bro wrecker body.

Not a Peterbilt.

Not a correct wrecker body.

Hmmmph! :)

No purchase of these by me!

Way to go Italeri, show one truck and deliver something way off.

Tim

PS: Thanks to the guys at the Dutch Model Truck Club for the information.

Maybe something was lost in the translation, for the third time!

Well, at least it's another truck kit for those who can't find the wrecker body with other kits. 378 would've been best. We have Western Star kits out there don't we????? Why did they drop the 378, I still can't firgure that out.

Does the LAFD have a Western Star Recovery Truck?

I was looking forward to buying the Peterbilt 377 as a wrecker.

I won't even bother with this fastbuck truck from Italeri. I really wonder who the model makers listen too sometimes.

Take the Peterbilt 378 being dropped. I can't see why that model would was dropped at all..

If it is a Peterbilt or a Kenworth it sells.

Cheers

Hey guys here's the facts on the kit. I got a review sample yesterday and it is far from the actual truck. It is a slammed together kit useing the Western Star Constellation kit, not a Pete as both the LA trucks are, and the wrecker body from the previous US wrecker, two Scania wreckers and the Revell Scania wrecker. It has no light bar, only the two rotators from the US wrecker kit and also the sleeper and fuel tanks from it. This kit will come no where near replicating the LA truck. Had it been a kit of the LA truck it could have been great. As mentioned before, another hoodwink.

Figures. I was soo hopin for a new 377 or a 378. I guess that leaves more money for my DM-600's and L700's. I hope the A-Car A64 kit comes to pass.

Thanks for all of the insight on this "new" release. I had seen a picture of the Pete wrecker that LAFD uses and was set to buy one or two of them but will not be buying any of them thanks to you all.

If it was worth buying the kit for the wrecker body, I would have considered it but seems like even that is not the case.

I guess we will have to wait until someone tools up a new wrecker for us!

Well Well we modelers have been rained on again. big suprise.

Every time I hear that a new model is coming out I get excited and as usual it turns out to be a crock.

Thanks everyone for letting me know not to get excited about the latest release.

I'll support the model manufactures when someone finaly listens to true modelers who know what the want.

And not the garbage that is out there now. Eg truck models with no motors.

Cheers

Hi there,

I bought the US.Wrecker kit some time ago just for the Ford, lol.Does anyone need the Bro wrecker body?

I built this one some years ago and I think it will look more like the expected recovery truck.

I think I´ll built another wreckerbody sometime similar to this one.

Does anyone remember this disappointment?

I expected they would deliver an accurate reefer trailer. If they had offered an on point replica of a reefer trailer, I’m sure Italeri would have sold every last one they made and would have had to have another run just to keep up with demand. Instead, they keep trying to get ride of them in combined kits.

chuckyr,

I agree, that reefer trailer was a big dissappointment. It's bad enough that the trailer wasn't the right height, but the floor, ceiling and walls all come in two parts. The best thing that it can be built into is a grain trailer.
