martinfan5 Posted August 19, 2012 Posted August 19, 2012 Here is Ernie's Bullseye BBQ Ford Tbird, I am disappointed how this one turned out, meaning with the decals, as you can see in the pics, they cracked . I still need to get the goodyear tire decals for the tires.
bbowser Posted August 19, 2012 Posted August 19, 2012 I know how you feel about the decals. Did you try using setting solution? That doesn't always work either with brittle ones. Doesn't look too bad, just put it in the back row
martinfan5 Posted August 19, 2012 Author Posted August 19, 2012 No I did not use any decal setting solution, I have never used any, maybe its time I get some , but I am not sure it would of helped with these, they were brittle
Old Coyote Posted August 19, 2012 Posted August 19, 2012 Those don't look all that bad ........... get some flourescent red & orange paint, mix them up to match the decal color, and do a touch-up with a fine paint brush .......... that's a nice build and deserves to be saved

Old Coyote Posted August 20, 2012 Posted August 20, 2012 Thank you John, I am going to do that I had a similar issue with the decal under the upper grille on the Honey Crunch Corn Flakes Monte Carlo ......... it was too small and didn't cover properly ............. I matched the orange and the red and carefully painted the areas not covered ............ If I can do it, so can you
shafer Posted August 20, 2012 Posted August 20, 2012 I have been spraying my old decals with clear coat b4 cutting them up, this seems to have solved my cracking problems especially with red decals
bbowser Posted August 20, 2012 Posted August 20, 2012 Hey Clyde, what are you using for a clear coat?
martinfan5 Posted August 20, 2012 Author Posted August 20, 2012 (edited) John, it looks good, I have no doubt I can do it, just have to get some florescent paint now, I did not think to clear coat the Slixx decal sheet first, I think if I would have, it might of help a little, they were brittle Edited August 20, 2012 by martinfan5
roadhawg Posted August 23, 2012 Posted August 23, 2012 I think it turned out very nice. The last time I had decals crack like that, I just weathered it like it had just finished a hard race, and nobody ever noticed, lol. Do you need some tire decals? I have a few I can send you if you like.
