eizzle Posted August 19, 2012 Posted August 19, 2012 Just a few pics, testing this new photobucket app.
2002p51 Posted August 19, 2012 Posted August 19, 2012 Those are nice. The CH-46 reminds of my days in HC-3 when I was in the Navy.
Harry P. Posted August 19, 2012 Posted August 19, 2012 Man, you really need to dust some of those shelves...
Terry Sumner Posted August 19, 2012 Posted August 19, 2012 Some really nice work there Colin! That Falcon.....is that the Tamiya 1/32 scale kit?
eizzle Posted August 19, 2012 Author Posted August 19, 2012 Yes, I know Harry... Dusting isn't my strong point. I try to dust my builds, but I usually don't make it to the shelves. Some of these pics are pretty old to, sO I probably dusted them once since then... Yes terry, it's the tamiya kit. I custom mixed the yellow to match the pics of the real jet better and used TwoBobs decals and Edaurd PE for the IP. The kit doesn't have any gauge detail, which I found pretty disappointing considering the high level of detail everywhere else on it.
Terry Sumner Posted August 19, 2012 Posted August 19, 2012 I know what you mean...I have the kit and I agree! Again...nice work!
Terry Sumner Posted August 20, 2012 Posted August 20, 2012 No...it's just one of the 600 or so in my stash. But it's high on my list on the ones that I really do want to build! LOL
eizzle Posted August 20, 2012 Author Posted August 20, 2012 It doesn't disappoint. It goes together great.
george 53 Posted August 20, 2012 Posted August 20, 2012 GREAT lookin aircraft there, Colin. I used to build 48th scale(still do, occasionally) But now, I have moved up to 24th scale aircraft. They are kinda hard to find, but Squadron Shop seems to get the newest ones out. I FINALLY got the Airfix 24th scale Dehavilland Mosquito, and I'm waiting now on the P-47 Thunderbolt by Vintage Aircraft Models. i FINALLY got the Combat Models F-4 Phantom, and man, that thing is huge! I thought the Airfix AV-8B Harrier was big, but this Phantom is ALOT bigger!!!!
eizzle Posted August 20, 2012 Author Posted August 20, 2012 Thanks Brizio and Jim. George, I know my 32nd scale phantom is almost 24", I bet a 24th scale is upwards of 3'!!! My hobby room isn't big enough to build that thing, my 32nd scale Tomcat barely fits on my shelves.
george 53 Posted August 20, 2012 Posted August 20, 2012 Oh you better believeit! The fuselage without the nosecone is over two feet(26 in)! That's one reason i haven't started it yet, caz you need ALOT of room just to PREPARE it for assembly!
eizzle Posted August 20, 2012 Author Posted August 20, 2012 Which variant is it? It would be awesome if it was a "G". Put some wild weasel decals on it and strap on some Harms, it would look killer!
george 53 Posted August 21, 2012 Posted August 21, 2012 Actually Colin, it comes with a short nose or a long nose, and i believe I can build a few variants of it. It comes with the fairings for the mini gun equipped F-4's s, an it does come with missles and a cast metal landing gear set up. It's vacu-formed so a little knowledge of building these types of kits would be helpful. I've never done one QUITE this big, but hey, If ya want it, yer gonna hafta BUILD that rascal! So, that's wat Im gonna do!
eizzle Posted August 21, 2012 Author Posted August 21, 2012 Vac formed??? You sir, are a braver man than me! I've never done one, they just never did anything for me. Make sure you post some pics of that monster when you get it done.
Terry Sumner Posted August 21, 2012 Posted August 21, 2012 Is that one of the Combat Models vacformed kits?
george 53 Posted August 21, 2012 Posted August 21, 2012 (edited) Sure is,Terry! and yeah, Colin, it'sa big ol sucker! But like I said, it's the ONLY model of an F-4 in 24th scale that I've EVER heard of! I first heard of it about 10 years ago, but when I tried to order it then, the gentleman who makes them, told me he had stopped as his molds were worn out, and he stopped offering it. About 3 months ago, i tried him again, an Viola! he had them back in stock. I only paid 90 bucks for it WITH shipping, and shipping came to 17 dollars alone! This is gonna be a good'n!!! But like I said, if ya want one, yer gonna hafta build that rascal, so, I am! Edited August 21, 2012 by george 53
eizzle Posted August 21, 2012 Author Posted August 21, 2012 I gotta see pics of that when it gets built!
Terry Sumner Posted August 22, 2012 Posted August 22, 2012 I once owned a Combat Models 1/32 B-17! Got rid of it as soon as I could!!!
