Tye Brown Posted August 24, 2012 Posted August 24, 2012 Hey man Well I'm calling this one done man. Just have to put in the tailights (They are still drying lol) Had heaps of fun with this one man. Painted Tamiya lime green and polished & waxed man. I'm not sure yet if I want to put a huge flower on the hood yet man
Gluhead Posted August 24, 2012 Posted August 24, 2012 Cool! That came out pretty sweet. Pretty under-rated kit, if you ask me. I need to give mine a rebuild. It's hiding in the background here.
Ace-Garageguy Posted August 24, 2012 Posted August 24, 2012 Great little car, perfect color for a fun off-roader. Does the kit come with the Corvair engine, or did you swao it?
Jantrix Posted August 24, 2012 Posted August 24, 2012 With all the "buggies" running around this forum lately I may have to drag my Barris T Buggy out.
slusher Posted August 24, 2012 Posted August 24, 2012 Never seen one of those before. very cool and very nice color...
Zarana-X Posted August 24, 2012 Posted August 24, 2012 (edited) I've got one of these, and I really didn't like the body. I tried to mod into a more traditional buggy, but was unsuccesful. The kit is made by Revell (lots o' flash) and does include the Corvair engine, as well as VW. Old picture, It's currently busted and awaiting repair. Edited August 24, 2012 by Zarana-X
jbwelda Posted August 25, 2012 Posted August 25, 2012 hey ty, that looks pretty great and definately an off-the-beaten-path build, just what i like. but could i give you a bit of advice, the one thing that kind of ruins it for me is the tires. that big raised seam running down the middle of the rears specifically. when you build, especially a car that is for off the road, you pretty much have to remove that seam. and sand down the tread a bit to simulate wear and then spray the tire with some dull-cote to finish it off. you will be surprised how much more realistic that will make your tires look and how much more real it will make your model look, and it only takes a few minutes to do. great build as always and i am still in awe that you found and built that uncertain T a while back...ive been looking for one and they are all sky high!
Joker Posted August 25, 2012 Posted August 25, 2012 Thanks for posting the Buggy, Hippie Dude. Never seen one before and I am digging it Brother ! I haven't built a Dune Buggy and your build is inspiring me go on a hunt. I'm thinking heavy flake or swirly paint panels or both ! hahaha
rmvw guy Posted August 25, 2012 Posted August 25, 2012 Wow! That's a new look for me, got to give you credit for "dare to be different"'. I like that green with the black wheels and tires. And a Corvair engine? That's kind of cool.
VW Dave Posted August 26, 2012 Posted August 26, 2012 Not my favorite buggy kit(I have one that's a parts donor), but you did a great job on it
Modelmartin Posted August 26, 2012 Posted August 26, 2012 (edited) Nice job, Hippiedude! That looks really good. On one of the custom cars and skeletons forums (I forgot their name!) A bunch of people started to trash talk this kit. That was like waving a red flag at a bull for me. I started one immediately and it turned out well. I used the VW engine and Monogram American wheels, Testors Jimmy Flintstone tires, and scratchbuilt exhaust. Shot it in pearl orange. Please forgive me for posting my pic here, Hippiedude. Tye Brown Posted August 27, 2012 Author Posted August 27, 2012 Thanks for the kind words man William, yeah the tyers sucked big time man. If I did it again dude I would put different tyers on her man. The kit tyers are flaming 2 peace ###### & just to get them looking half decent man was a downer man Some great builds here man good to see some other buggys man B) Flake & swirl paint would be far out man. I'm gunna stick a flower on it for sure man, it needs it LOL Peace
VW Dave Posted August 28, 2012 Posted August 28, 2012 For 'flower power' decals, check your local stores for fingernail decals; I got a package of about 100 various 'peel and stick' flowers & peace symbols for a little over a buck
