mnwildpunk Posted August 28, 2012 Posted August 28, 2012 Being a huge beatles fan all my life. I decided to help a friends son build this kit. It will be fun and a learning process. Has anybody built this and have any tips for us.
eizzle Posted August 28, 2012 Posted August 28, 2012 Psychodellic man! I'm sorry, this is the first time I've even seen the kit, but after staring at the box for a minute it brought back this feeling from several years ago...
mnwildpunk Posted August 29, 2012 Author Posted August 29, 2012 I just hope my skills are good enough to pull off the tri-tone paint job let alone painting the captain and the nowhere man in the portholes, hatches or whatever they are called
Edward Gore Posted August 29, 2012 Posted August 29, 2012 Interesting kit. I'm going to watch this build. Please show sprue shots and kit contents and you build progress as you go along. If this is possible
mnwildpunk Posted August 29, 2012 Author Posted August 29, 2012 Psychodellic man! I'm sorry, this is the first time I've even seen the kit, but after staring at the box for a minute it brought back this feeling from several years ago... same with me when I saw what the kid had
eizzle Posted August 29, 2012 Posted August 29, 2012 Baseball cards come with a Stick of gum, this kit comes with a Baggie
mnwildpunk Posted August 29, 2012 Author Posted August 29, 2012 (edited) I will take sprue shots later tonight when I get back home. I will surely keep y'all posted and probably ask lots of questions. Edited August 29, 2012 by mnwildpunk
Harry P. Posted August 29, 2012 Posted August 29, 2012 Cool! I didn't know this kit existed! Also a huge Beatles fan, so this should be good!
TooOld Posted August 29, 2012 Posted August 29, 2012 Definetly a cool kit ! Please take lots of pictures ! !
mnwildpunk Posted August 29, 2012 Author Posted August 29, 2012 As I look at the instructions they are very cryptic the rubber band and penny are not included. Darn them this thing is going to cost me more money!! Lol.
mnwildpunk Posted August 29, 2012 Author Posted August 29, 2012 (edited) Here are the parts the captain btw I have to watch the movie because I think the colors of his uniform are wrong in the instructions I took a dozen pix and couldn't get a clear one of this little guy I don't see where these flowery things go in the instructions do you? scopes and decals sadly as I look at it it's a poor quality kit but I'm going to do my best to honor one of my favorite movies dum dum dum dum heeeey bulldog yaaaaaa I hear it already! TooOld Posted August 29, 2012 Posted August 29, 2012 Actually , in the photos the quality looks much better than I expected ! I think the little flowery things are suppossed to be little flowery things . Or some foreign object floating in the pool !
mnwildpunk Posted August 30, 2012 Author Posted August 30, 2012 I did some research and the colors AMT suggest are way off probably to escape licensing or something
chebbysteve Posted September 4, 2012 Posted September 4, 2012 In the original issue, there were four clear 3-d panels, each with the impression of one of the Beatles. These were even deep enough to act as molds for plaster or whatever medium. Also included in the kit were four color pics of the guys that fit into the frames. The flowery things are the "feet" for the panels so they could be stood up. Sort of like a room divider configuration.
mnwildpunk Posted September 12, 2012 Author Posted September 12, 2012 I'd like to find an original kit!!
kruleworld Posted October 5, 2012 Posted October 5, 2012 i'm sure this is the weirdest subject ever done by a model making company. I'm sure with a bit of scratchbuilding and kitbashing you could make an interesting helicopter out of it.
