Two questions here...first is dealing with chrome parts that have mold lines in visible locations. The pic is the rear suspension spring from Revell's 29 Rat Rod, and it's one of several parts that have lines in the most irritating spots. If I sand off the line, then I obviously have to do something to patch up the chrome. I don't have an airbrush yet, so any solution calling for one is out.

I would prefer to keep the chrome, but not if I have to put up with the line. Any suggestions, or am I doomed to strip the chrome, sand the line and settle for flashy brush on paint?

Second question is for the underside of the same truck, the area in question is in the red box. The holes show through to the underside of the seats...I'm pretty sure the original truck had a little more there, so I'm planning on cutting a piece of sheet styrene to cover that area. Does anyone have any photos of what this area should look like?

my take is that chrome plated plastic doesn't look like real chrome anyway. strip all of your chrome, do the clean up work, and rattle can it silver.

a little information on the vehicle in question would be helpful. Revell '29 pick up?

if you need help, don't make people guess!

You can try Spaz-Stix Ultimate Mirror Chrome . It's a rattle can spray that works exactly like Alcad . You can find it on Amazon for about $8 a can .

"Real" chrome look seems to lie somewhere between kit chrome and spray on. That Spazstix stuff looks promising, but might be a minor challenge getting it here in Canada without paying an arm and a leg for it...but I've got some ideas ;-)

Yes, it's the Revell 29 Pickup.

I'd sand the lines off and fix it with bare metal foil. If done correctly, you can't tell anything was done to the chrome at all.

That thought had crossed my mind as well, hearing it from someone else is even better! I think I'll give that a try tonight and see how it works out.

Should have my airbrush setup in another month, but aiming to have this build done and shelved by then.
