AMT Red Alert Chevelle racing team ?

Has anybody got a Red Alert racing team in their stash ? Could you post pics of the box arts ?

Whats the best kit to use for the Chevelle, AMT or Monogram ?

What was the van in the kit ? Has it been re-issued ?

I've tried google etc but only brings up tiny pics, so cant see any detail.

There was a magazine article last year about building a Red Alert Chevelle . I scanned and saved it for future use , I hope it helps .

That was an AMT kit, so if you want to truly replicate the team, the parts/kits are there to do it. The recently re-issued Dirty Donny Van would be the right van, a '72 Chevelle would be the right car, and the trailer should still be available in a couple of different kits.

While it would be way cool to have that kit available again, I don't think Round2 will be doing it anytime soon.

I forgot that the 1:1 was a 70, but if I remember correctly, the kit in question had a 71 or 72 in the box, did it not?

Thanks for link TooOld, very helpfull. I remember seeing the mag advertised, but its not avail off the shelf here in UK & promptly forgot about it (might be an age thing !)

I couldnt find anything on Ebay for the Race team Casey. Have you got an item number ? Any pics from the box art would help, for van details ect.

The Red Alert kit was a 72, but the 1;1 a 70.

I've got an old untouched AMT Matchbox 72 Chevelle that I'll use (both my AMT & Monogram 70's have been part built) Along with an AMT 911 Ambulance & trailer from Diamond in the Rough kit. Just need 2 sets of decals from Decals by Lucas, or is there a better set ?

There are loads of AMT '70 Chevelles on eBay as of 3:30 Eastern time today.

the Van was a 1975 long wheel base. I got the kit about 30 years ago just for the van I had a 75 chevy van short wheel base so i removed some of the middle section and made a short one turned out NICE. I still have the trailer and chevelle in the box. No it has never been reissued if you still want photos let me know. I have a friend that has been trying to get it from me for 15 or 20 years. The one i have is the racing team.

Oddly enough, I much prefer the AMT ‘72 Chevelle version over the genuine ‘70. Truth told, I’m just not a fan of the ‘70 Chevelle. I prefer the ‘71 and ‘72. So the box art build suits me just fine. 
 

…..also, for anyone else reading, I was able to get a really nice set of reproduction decals for the Red Alert Race Team online. The print and colors are vivid, and the Branch Motor Express Co and The Devil Made Me Do It are printed in gold foil. VERY nice decal set. Do NOT buy the one on eBay under the seller Southern Motorsports. It’s not good at all.
