modelmike Posted September 18, 2012 Posted September 18, 2012 My friend and I are having a friendly build off. we each are building a 1950 chevy 3100... he has the advantage of many years of builds under his belt and I have only a few months...Iam going for a custome job where he is going for a stock look.... Anyway I can't decide on the motor so im asking for some opinions... the one to the right is a chevy 458ci I think and the other is a 1994 Corvette ZR-1.... What do you think???
bigphoto Posted September 18, 2012 Posted September 18, 2012 Right side! I'm old school gotta have at least one carb
scbaker Posted September 18, 2012 Posted September 18, 2012 I'd say the 458 c.i.d .... But I guess it would depend on what kind of look you were going for ... Hope to see the progress of your build , good luck in your friendly competition . Steve B.
Guest Posted September 18, 2012 Posted September 18, 2012 No doubt, the 458. I know it's a model, but there is nothing like the sound of a carb throttle wide open. Fuel injection just cant compare.
Fat Brian Posted September 18, 2012 Posted September 18, 2012 It depends on what kind of custom you are doing, a mild custom with old school wheels like Cragars or baby moons is just right for the 458. A modern custom with big wheels and a flashy color needs the ZR1 motor.
oldnslow Posted September 18, 2012 Posted September 18, 2012 Section it, chop it, slam it, ZR1 motor and running gear.
W-409 Posted September 18, 2012 Posted September 18, 2012 Absolutely the Chevy 458 Cid. engine. That one on the left is way too modern engine for '50 Chevy Pickup.
