I got a can of testors rattle can red. I have painted 3 bodys with it and all have come out with flaws that almost resemble large dust particles. Is out possible that restores got a contaminate in the paint or an I doing something wrong???

For starters, any chunk of any sort of debris large enough to be seen in a freshly sprayed (from an aerosol can even) paint job more than likely didn't come from the spray can, given the very tiny size of the opening in the spray valve. I'd be checking my work area for dust and dirt, and if it's there, vacuum it up. Also, if you are spraying with an open window nearby, be sure it has a screen in it, and if windy outside, postpone spraying until the winds die down. Just a couple of thoughts on your situation.

They don't show till the paint settles and us close to dry. I've sprayed these three bodys over a period of 2 weeks. And my area is clean and the bodys are cleaned and prepped before I spray them.

I use Testors "rattlecans" a lot and have not encountered this problem at all.

Sounds like something is getting into the paint AFTER you shoot the body. Try hanging the body upside down right after you shoot it. It may help if your not doing that already. Good luck. Also if you can post a photo that may be helpful.

Is this enamel or lacquer?

Sounds like you are putting too much paint on at once. Too much paint doesn't allow the canned paint to air out, causing bubbles. Try light mist coats with enamel. One light mist coat, let it dry for 15 mins, repeat, repeat, repeat. Testors enamel spray is not the easiest to work with and it takes days to dry. Their one coat lacquer is much easier to use. Takes only one or two medium coats and is dry within a day.

If you were to upgrade to an airbrush, a whole new world awaits you.

I use an airbrush every now and then but I prefer rattle cans. I've just never seen anything like this. Oh well. I'll just keep redoing till I'm happy with it.

But, all it takes is for bits of dust or lint floating in the surrounding air to settle on a wet paintjob.

I've never had your problem with Testors products, but I HAVE had several similar experiences with other rattlecan paints, mainly stuff that had been on the shelf for a LONG time. The poster is correct who said big chunks won't get through the spray nozzle, but globs of snottish stuff certainly WILL. Try shaking the living daylights out of your can and see if that helps at all. I've brought some back that way.

Also, put the can in a glass.of.warm water....results in paint flowing smoother.
