l've got almost all the parts gathered to build a Dodge L-700 car hauler. l want to use a Viper engine for a cool custom touch & was wondering how practical it would be for torque/pulling. l'm sure l can get it to fit, just want it to be reallistically viable. Thanks, Bart.

Realistically, you can put anything in anything with enough engineering, is it practical?, probably not, but if you like it so what!, go for it.

Why not? 3/4 and 1-ton Dodge pickups used an iron-block V-10, and they weren't known for being weak in the knees. Yes, there were some differences between the Viper and Ram variants of the engines (quite a few, actually), but still! :)

.......How fitting. l should have thought that through. The V-10 l have is actually from Revellograms '96 RAM VTS pickup! So theoretically, l should be all set?

It's hard to beat the massive torque of a diesel for hauling heavy loads, but the Viper engine is pretty stout in the torque department itself, making over 500 lb.ft.

For your model, why not have the best of both? Convert your Viper engine to a never-really-made but entirely-possible Viper Diesel. There have been diesel offspring from gasoline fueled engines in the past, like the Olds / GM 350c.i. LF9 (which has a lot of visual similarity to its gasoline burning brother) and the Nissan LD28 (which looks a lot like the Datsun 240-280Z engines). Get rid of the plug wires and distributor, add an injection pump and lines and voila....you have a believeable Mopar V10 diesel.
