GoatGuy Posted September 30, 2012 Posted September 30, 2012 Looking really good. I love the paint color and I vote for the ground effects that you first posted. Makes it look even more aggressive.
martinfan5 Posted October 1, 2012 Author Posted October 1, 2012 Got a little bit more done today, flock the interior, seats are installed, the center console needs work still, and , oh yea, put some shine on the body. It has two wet coats on right now, going to add a few more.
martinfan5 Posted October 3, 2012 Author Posted October 3, 2012 I agree, its even better in person Well the bad luck struck, I was removing the doors from the body, and the right side door and body the paint was chipped
BluePopsicle Posted October 3, 2012 Posted October 3, 2012 doh! can you lightly wet sand it and re-spray?
BluePopsicle Posted October 3, 2012 Posted October 3, 2012 It doesn't look all that bad Jonathan... Can you touch it up with a brush? Layer enough on the chipped areas, let them dry right out & lightly polish those areas, with a cotton-bud. Cheers Dan I didn't think of that. That's a better idea then spraying.
martinfan5 Posted October 3, 2012 Author Posted October 3, 2012 (edited) I used a fine tip brush touched up the area's , the door ,you can see, but you have to look for it, and it only shows up at certain angles. I did a coat of Testors one coat wet look clear, now its on to getting put together, started with getting the doors Here is the driver side all completed, you can see the hinge sticking out and here is the passenger side, not done yet, but you can see how the hinge system works here is the one part of the engine cover and the top part of the engine compartment and the completed engine cover Edited October 3, 2012 by martinfan5
bryan_m Posted October 4, 2012 Posted October 4, 2012 wow! that is a beautiful color, and great paintwork too. glad ya fixed the chips cheers bryan
BluePopsicle Posted October 4, 2012 Posted October 4, 2012 Nicely done sir! That chip isn't even noticeable on the picture.
Gluebomber Posted October 4, 2012 Posted October 4, 2012 Great job so far, Jonathan. That color will look even better when all the black vents and trim pieces are in place. You've probably already thought of this, but don't forget to paint the insides of the door panels. The interior pieces only cover the center sections, so when you open the doors, the outer edges are exposed. I built the Fujimi kit and posed one of the doors open and realized this late in the game. It meant some tricky finishing and masking after I had the outside of the door painted and polished. Keep up the good work!
martinfan5 Posted October 4, 2012 Author Posted October 4, 2012 This is almost done, and the bad luck struck again, I lost a piece for the body, it was the gas cap door that has gone MIA, not sure what I am going to fix this one. The only idea I had wont work.
samurai7 Posted October 4, 2012 Posted October 4, 2012 You can e-mail Aoshima see if they'll send a replacement for the gas cap cover. Or trace the shape by putting a small peice of paper underneath the opening and then transfer to sheet plastic or tin from a pop can. Or cover it up and smooth it out.
severin681 Posted October 5, 2012 Posted October 5, 2012 Man, that is awesome. Color reminds me of Atomic Orange, which I love. Really nice build. I think I will try and get one for myself and build. That thing is so mean looking! Thank you for sharing your build!
Geordi08 Posted October 5, 2012 Posted October 5, 2012 Very nice build and love the color. As someone mentioned, subtle is not the Aventador's style but its definitely different. For some reason i think Tie-Fighter on wheels. Is there a metallic flake in the paint or am I seeing things?
martinfan5 Posted October 5, 2012 Author Posted October 5, 2012 You are not seeing things, this is a very cool color, not only is it a metallic, it also color shifts a little bit too Here is what is the missing, or the area that the piece goes and here is my idea for making a new piece
martinfan5 Posted October 6, 2012 Author Posted October 6, 2012 It has a hint of metallic flake in it, it being a pearl makes sense , I was just guessing, I really was not sure
martinfan5 Posted October 6, 2012 Author Posted October 6, 2012 Well that makes sense as the flakes are very small, to be honest, I dont , or didnt know a lot about pearl paint
martinfan5 Posted October 6, 2012 Author Posted October 6, 2012 Here is the fix in a test fit, up next get some paint on it, then clear coat it, its not perfect, but close enough for me, I hope that once I get it painted, it will look even closer
martinfan5 Posted October 7, 2012 Author Posted October 7, 2012 Thanks for the tips Dan I calling this one done now, I got the replacement gas cap painted and put in I will have pics posted soon
